The name Nic Fit was a typo on a forum for “Nice fit” bc veteran explorer, cabal therapy, and pernicious deed are a “nice fit”. And so the most unfairly fair deck was born

It's nic fit short for "nicotine fit" which is what you send your opponents into in the long drawn out games you play with this deck in legacy, if they are a smoker. Which was a common attribute for tournament grinders back in the day.

Nic Fit's name has two prevailing theories. Nice Fit, as in a nice fit for the meta. Nicotine Fit, as in the deck took so long to play if you were a smoker you'd get ancy for a smoke.
