Thank you, this was very clear and helpful. I was able to do it even in a fit of rage.

Thank you for this, wish I had known before starting my current piece lol, will know for the future. You videos are fantastic, I am picking up my lace after a long time away from it, and we have no lace tutor in this area, these videos are a great memory jogger and learning new things thank you again

Hi Jenny! Greetings from Canada! Loving these videos. Can you tell me why it is important to send the bobbins through spangle first?

G'day Canada! I send them through spangle first as I dont get the spangles caught in the thread that way. You can dive in head first, just watch the spangles as you go.

I find that doing this spangles first I have lot less thread catches as I make sure the loop is big enough to fit them ;-)

This is a very complicated way of joining and tying off. It is far easier to not bother with the magic threads and use a tiny crochet hook or tambour hook and pass that through the loop made at the beginning, pull one of the threads of the corresponding pair through and thread the second bobbin of the pair through the loop you pulled through, as you would in Honiton, Idrija or Cantu lace. Alternatively cut one of the bobbin threads approximately 15-20 cm from the finished lace and thread it through a long, bent needle. A thin applique needle or a beading needle is ideal. It is long enough and thin enough to bend slightly without snapping. Then you don't have to worry about magic threads tangling, moving them out of the way, or trying to sort them out at the end. You can see what you are doing a lot more easily without a whole bunch of coloured threads in the way.
