The online social dynamic metaphor is super strong, but I also like how this culture-build directly confronts psychological concepts of personas, anonymity, social stigma, and true identity: subjects that existed before the internet.

A world where the spirit within the mask rivals the soul behind it. Incredible, truly.

I could see this being a great metaphor for social media personas.

this could make a socity thats just 4chan irl and they could all live in diffrant places and come to a place and make their own masks and never face consaquences because they all just go to an isolated place and do weird things

I really love magical masks, whether they be From Dust, Bionicle, or Majora variety. I regret that I haven’t spent this year of masks to make one

I wonder if painting on your face would give off the same affect like maybe using a magical paint and would be kind of interesting to figure that one out I think I love that something like that.

I kinda wonder how this would interact with gender and gender variance, if masks, or the spirits they represent, were at all gendered, could you create personas that differ in gender to your assigned gender, and how this could be used for self-expression

This is wild. I love when worldbuilders have the guts to completely abandon the status quo and create something truly foreign. I love how following a concept to its natural conclusions can generate these kinds of really neat systems 👏👏👏

Imagine coming up with your own cool persona and then when you reveal it to everyone else they just laugh and say that it looks like a clown, and then because it's based on social conception you mentally become a clown. Kinda horrifying TBH.

Midway through the video I was going to write a comment on how plain face masks sound like the Internet today, then the rest of the video preempted me. I wonder too whether the concept of identity will change in the future to involve the Internet. If it does, though, I suspect it will take a long time - over half of the world still doesn't have access to the Internet, while I don't seem to get the impression that half of the people in your world don't have masks. I hope that if that becomes the case, some form of government unique to the Internet will be set up. The Internet is too irregularly regulated across the globe - it's in need of centralized laws of its own making. I came up with an "Internet Constitution" of my own idly one time, but I have yet to use it for anything. Maybe this will be the inspiration for a future story on the Internet, just as the Internet was an inspiration for this video.

This is a very intresting idea , It would basically be analogic social network , and i love analogic stuff , It would be intresting to see what would happen if they developed a press , what would they talk abt ? Also the presentation and the drawing are genuinely great , my suggestion would be to maybe enunciate a bit better but in all honesty you're doing a great work and deserve min 10x the subs ...

I wonder how the dynamics of masks would change as new technologies come along? Would it incorporate them into designs or would they go against them? Nice vid Nakari.

I'm interested in this concept: "The way they think is shaped by the way their society thinks that spirit thinks." Do you want to elaborate on that? I have a similar concept in my world I think.
