I love this movie! i try to put myself in their shoes when I watch this movie and it makes me understand their bravery , courage and act of selflessness it took to do what these brave men did that day. no doubt, they were guided by a force more than just the human men they are. Truly, Gods hand guided them to safety.

A retired Navy Chief I once met said that when your ship was in danger out on the ocean and death was stalking you, the only thing you wanted to hear on the radio was, "This is the US Coast Guard, coming to assist." He considered those USCG sailors to be some of the bravest men in any US Uniform.

Ank It came out in January 2016. It's such an amazing story; anything about the Coast Guard piques my interest. It's basically the most daring rescue in the history of the Coast Guard, with two oil tankers splitting in half in a 1952 nor'easter. While the Fort Mercer rescue was amazing, it's the Pendleton rescue that tops it all, with the CG36500 motor lifeboat rescuing 32 of the 33 men trapped in the Pendleton stern. Altogether, there were 36 men on that little boat, designed to hold only 12, with no compass or windshield, and a major power outage, yet they made it back home. Bernard Webber, the coxswain of the boat, refused the Gold Lifesaving Medal because his crew would receive the Silver, and he was vehemently adamant in making sure that they got the Gold, since "they did all the heavy rescuing."
