Magical Walks at the FAIRY POOLS & FAIRY GLEN - Isle of Skye Roadtrip 3/3 + Painting a Highland Cow

This is our third and final (for now!) adventure on the Isle of Skye and we've managed fro squeeze two walks into one!
There's a theme to today's walks - the first location we explore is the Fairy Pools at Glen Brittle. Beautiful, crystal clear and ice cold blue pools and waterfalls, that look like something out of a fantasy film set.
Then we head across to the Fairy Glen, a magical landscape that makes you think that a mystical creature could be just around the corner.
On my travels, I came across some famous local
s - highland cows (or coos if you're Scottish!) and I couldn't resist trying to capture one in my painting this week :)

Awesome trilogy, good entertainment, curious history, and fun. Liked each episode, all were well done. Today Jacks swim in the Fairy pool was a joy and I laughed so hard…somehow it was cute and funny! Fairy glen was an incredible landscape, looks ancient and holds traces of elders spiritual practice. Both areas were stunning and uniquely presented and easy to follow. Highland cooo’s look strong, Jack resembles one when partially dried and tangled after a swim! Alas it is over…on to the next adventure, it will be great too! Cherokee has been stable and I have cared well for her special needs…she is loosing strength now and I hardly spend time away from her, it is harsh to experience, I encourage her and stay calm . Her will to survive and attitude is amazing.

Look at Jack, he's everywhere checking out all the crevices, nooks and crannies. What a good boy. Beautiful, and that water I bet is very cold. One my prints I made in university was of fairies dancing in the surf. I could see them 💃 dancing in the running water all the way to the ocean. Lovely walk with the fairies🧚. I love the look of the highland cattle. They kinda look like they need a haircut for bangs, lol.💗

Hi Sarah! Jack is such a good boy (and we’ll trained) to be so cautious with you on the high narrow path. This video was beautiful. My favorite parts are the colors under the water pool, how clear the water is, and seeing Jack swim - his legs paddling and all of the air bubbles circling around him. There is just something pleasing about watching doggos swim from underneath - Jack is sure living his best life. Also, I love highland cows!!! We have some here in Nova Scotia At Highland Village, an historical working Village, in Iona, Cape Breton where the Scots settled along the Barra Strait.

Well Sarah you surely finished off your trilogy with a bang. The scenery was so beautiful and I think my favorite was the sun coming through the foggy mist. I could almost smell the brisk air with just a hint of new grass and budding flowers. When you were walking along the stream to each of the pools it reminded me of what the landscape millions of years ago may have looked like while carving out areas like the Grand Canyon. They had to start somewhere at some time. Water can be such a calm flowing entity and then it speeds up, starts to bend and twist then fall... Water can be a powerful knife that cuts through earth like butter. It can force mountains to move and rocks to splinter over and over to give us sand, and other times it just pools up and rests so God's creatures can cool themselves off or drink to quench their thirst. Mother Nature is truly magical. Thank you for such a lovely hike and taking us all along with you. I will get to fall asleep dreaming of other lands and their interesting flora and fauna. You seem to capture the subjects of your paintings in such a way that we can see what you see. The colors and textures jump off the paper almost to the point that I want to touch my screen to see if I can feel the velveteen of a flower petal, the wetness of morning dew or the warmth of the fur on fluffy highland cow. When God takes the time to give someone a unique talent and that same person shares it with the rest of the world, I truly believe that is one of the ways that God shares himself with all of us. Thank you for sharing your gift. I look forward to watching this again tomorrow with the little ones, their bedtime just snuck up on me so it was to late to let them watch you and Jack puppy. I hope you and Willie and of course Jack Spaniel had a wonderful Easter weekend. Thanks again for the peaceful yet entertaining end of my day.

I'm not sure where to start here. You saved the last videos of Skye for the best! I was mesmerized the entire time. Sweet Jack swimming in the fairies' pools giving him life forever, I'm sure. To the color of the pools, the falls, the rocks. My imagination went wild! Then you took us to the last part, the trail so deeply imbedded into the mountains I wondered how many feet over many centuries traveled that path, it had to have been a special area. Seeing you and Jack at the top on the very edge...breathtaking. Your painting, you say you can't capture fur, but you did it perfectly. It's beautiful! Sarah...would you have a picture of Sir Jack swimming in the Fairie ponds? I think that would be epic. Thank you for sharing this with us, for taking us up into the clouds and sharing the pools with us. I hope you take us back to Skye again...it was EPIC!

Sighs...I seem to have a bit of a dilema now. Having fallen in love with the cottage painting and started saving for it I now find I'm equally in love with this one. Do I now switch allegiance and buy this, save the extra £20 and get both, or go for broke with the Skye Trio? Decisions decisions..... The landscape was once again expertly shown off by Willie and you with Jack providing great examples of how to really throw yourself into enjoying stuff 💖 That shot showing the sparkling rocks at the bottom of the pool was sheer magic but I'm with you, far to cold for a swim or even a paddle.

I am not surprised to hear you say that painting fur is hard. Have you ever painted Jack? I imagine it is very hard to capture his "Jackness" in a way you are happy with. Last week when I was driving to an agricultural field to do safety inspections for work, I discovered there were Heilan coos living across the road. I should mention that I live in Colorado, North of Denver! 😯

The only thing I saw swimming in that pool was Jack. No fish? Jack is a good swimmer. The land looks different from anything I have seen here in the U.S.A. It is so beautiful and interesting there. I have only seen cows that look like that in pictures. I wonder if they are good milkers? Thank you fo this wondeful walk. I did not see any wild flowers this time.

Hi Arvetta! No we didn’t see any fish either - the river comes right off the mountains here, so they probably live a bit further down! I don’t think highland cows are usually bred for milk, but I’m sure it’s lovely!

The waterfalls and pools were just beautiful. The color is amazing. I loved the different camera shots; the drone footage, jumping over the small stream, the boot view of stepping stones, and the underwater shots of the stones and of course Jack swimming. It makes me feel as though I'm right there and not missing anything. The cow painting is perfect...so realistic! Thank you for sharing your vacation with us. :-D

Beautiful cinematography. We've eaten at the Oyster Shed - yum! Nice to see Skye without the hordes of tourists - will be very different driving those roads in the Summer months. What a talented artist you are - just loved watching you paint.
