This was a fantastic example of taking a sub optimal pool, and with optimal play and a bit of luck making it work. Very impressive. You deserved this after the last Arena open.

Depends on How powerful is the splashed card. If they are a bunch of Just good cards, you're right, but bombs and good removal make It worth while. Evidently, It depends on How good is your fixing.

With the high number of nearly unplayable cards in the set (skirmisher, centaur, returned hero, rapid hybridization just from this deck), I think there will be a lot of sealed decks like this. Which is why it's so great to see Paul scrap through with it!

I got to day 2 on my second attempt. First pool was very very good, ended up 3 and 2. My next pool was bad, not as bad as yours but I go through with one loss. I love how you are commenting on your own games as if they were some official championship, you really make your games exciting to watch. I think this deck was a 3 too, no good removal and just nothing really powerful in it. Weak opponents somehow balanced it out. Luck is more important than a good deck. So good luck for your day 2.
@christopherburns2841Күн бұрын
Stellar Performance!
@LunaLasceriaКүн бұрын
Great job managing 7 wins with an iffy pool & congrats on making Day 2! One criticism though: Halo Scarab HAS to be better than Returned Centaur or Rescue from the Underworld as your 24th playable, especially if you're going to run 16 lands. It has a significantly higher win rate than either of them, it fits better in a deck that's looking to be pretty aggressive, curve out with creatures and get hits in for Bident of Thassa, it buffs Cloudfin Raptor on turn 2, it can be sacrificed to Fell Stinger, and the ability to make a treasure from the graveyard can help cast spells off Nightveil Specter or set up a double-spell turn for Illusory Angel or just mana / color fix in a pinch. Sure, Returned Centaur's mill 4 has a few synergies with Gurmag Angler & Nighthowler but a 4 mana 2/4 has no business being in a tempo-ish deck, and Rescue from the Underworld is extremely slow and has very few big creatures worth returning or ETBs to re-trigger.

Great content. I think part of the sneakiness in the decks one viable plan is the color pair. If all of the black cards were white it mightve felt a bit better. Ive had lots of sealeds over the years where the plan was UW fliers with limited interaction. Also chuckled that you stopped to read the return from the underworld and still didnt know what it did later, seemed like you thought you could get 2 creatures from the yard back. Also surprised against the one boros opponent that you didnt consider using rapid hybridization on your screecher to try to eat the 2/2 first strike and give you a bigger creature. Likely not worth the risk but arena can give you tells that they dont have any instants, which was the case.
@haumphКүн бұрын
I've bluffed Arena tells before when I've had the spell and didn't have spells so I try not to use them as the way to determine my plays (if somebody turns on full control suddenly with one red mana up and there's now a pause, do you always assume they have a wild slash/rimrock knight?) It's not how I approach the game in general. If I lose 0.1% win rate because of it, I'm okay with that.
