Alex, I really love the way that you, and a couple others, try to use magic to actually enrich the lives of the people we touch in a meaningful way. It's more than entertainment, but a gateway to connection and hope; those things that truly fuel the soul. Thank you.

Performing arts should never lose their polish. Thank you Alex for being at this level and for your efforts in preserving and championing the sparks which make entertainment an inspiring bit of joy. In the details...speech and grammar, when proper and polite also work wonders. "For me" should be "for myself", or simply "I feel", and feeling is what entertainment is all about.

Thank you for that kind of video, it's really what's missing in every magic tutorial We all try to put magic in the spectator's eyes, when we should focus on putting magic in their mind This video really changed my vision of how we should do magic, thank you :) PS: and am impatient to see the passes !

thanks for the great comment! and thats a GREAT way of putting it. Magic at its first and most basic form fools the eyes ..magic a step up intrigues the mind...and magic done at the highest level touches the heart. These 3 forms are the basis of my thinking and i’m currently writing notes on it 💪🏻

This is exactly why I loved Derren Brown's Show "Miracle". The fact that he associated pieces of magic/mentalism with strong emotions made me feel so concerned and into his stuff. The moment he gave the broken light bulb to a spectator saying that it will help her rememner how strong and brave she was this day, so she will be confident enough to accomplish things she doesn't feel strong enough to do is so brilliant for example. The end of the video reminded me this, what do you think ? If you saw the show of course. Great video by the way, I love that kind of magic theory stuff. I always feel like it makes me so much better as a magician/performer each time. Love it !

What I got out of this inspiring lecture is : don't do a sleight for the sake of doing a sleight. Then the sleight becomes the star of the show. Actually the sleight is the means to the end like the filter on the lens of a camera to give a romantic effect and should slip by unnoticed. So work out your routines, make a story line, engage the audience to care about what's happening and go for the effect. Also make the route there as simple and uncluttered as possible so as not to arouse suspicion. I always say if the reaction is: How did you do that? you're doing it wrong. Remember no other performing art connects people like close up magic does.

I strongly, STRONGLY recommend having the majority of your cards being Tally-Ho fan backs. They look amazing, handle great, and are affordable, especially if you get them from Theory11. They don't draw too much extra attention. On the other hand, I like to have at least 3 very nice decks, maybe Monarchs or Memento Mori's for the days I'm feeling fancy. the more expensive decks will obviously handle nicer and look better but they draw unwanted attention during performances, especially if they're Theory11. Tally-Ho's, man. They're great.
