MAGICO S3 mk.3 vs. TAD GE-1 Five songs.

I can't quite belive what I'm hearing. The TADs are more transparent yet inot unatural or analytical. The Magicos seam more mellow but vailed in comparison. I never thought Magico sounded vailed or not transparent enough but this is what I'm hearing in this comparison. The TADs are incredibly good sounding!

@louv4437 The price is very much dependent on the country you live in. Here in UK the TADs are £55k and the Magicos £57K. All is to do with import taxes. I imagine TADs are much cheeper than Magicos in Japan.

Also, the mic positioning with respect to tweeter position will play a huge role here. If the mic height was not adjusted respectively, then it’s hard to draw conclusions

I am not sure if there is anything better than the GE1 even for multiple times the price. It is crazy good.

Marten Mingus Septet is better but almost twice as expensive. In fact, at its price it's hard to beat it.

I greatly preferred the TAD's. The Magico's seemed darker, I guess 'veiled.' But the big thing, on vocals, the Magico's were unnaturally wide. Sara K's voice sounded like it stretched the entire way between the Magico's, instead of being located between them with the TAD's.

While YT comparisons are questionable at best, I heard the GE1 at the Audio Show in Vienna and it surprised me: it easily destroys the competition up to 80,000 EUR, maybe even higher. Amazing new speaker from TAD 😍!

I've heard the new S3 at least twice, and the GE1 recently. The TAD GE1 is indeed very fine sounding. I heard the TAD playing TakeDake, the same exact song here and it was precisely this track that startled me with its deep, fast, well articulated bass. The new Magico S3 has a creamier sound but very refined and needs to be played loud to appreciate its quality. On other speakers where high volume usually leads to compression, the Magico sings effortlessly. I'm surprised by the difference here, but i suspect those amps are not well matched to the Magico. Anyway, the TAD is significantly more expensive than the S3, and should be compared to the new S5 instead.

TAD has more of a life sound where Magico is more subdue. I am surprised I was thinking the S3 as my last speaker but the TAD is 20k more! Is it worth it?

The difference is actually as you noticed. In Europe, the prices of these speakers are similar. Hence the comparison. I wouldn't spend 20K more.

I was a big fan of Magico until I listened to the Tads, and soon they will be at my place. everything is better, the midrange in Magico's performance has always been their greatest attribute, and here the Tad is even better, even more real. Bass in Magico's performance very strong but in Tad more precise. Regards.
