I have the Magicshine monteer 6500 and it is insane. The 8000 has to be overkill. I live in the Danish countryside and ride to work at 4am. The 400 setting is plenty good enough. The battery sits in the top tube bag. The only downside is the weight of the Battery. My model now has the handlebar control so you have a high and low beam switch.

I was quite excited when I finally got two of the best mountain bike lights according to many reviews: two Monteer 8000 v2 for handlebar and helmet. However, the Garmin mount broke twice as I was only trying to remove the light from the handlebar mount after winter fat biking. When the 1st one broke, I had to exchange about 15 emails and finally got replacement. I had to pay for the mounts (I got a few spares) and also a new handlebar mount since I damaged it when trying to remove the mount stuck in it. I also paid for shipping. Apparently the warranty was not applicable on that brand new lamp. The lamp and remote are great but sadly the mount is way too fragile, even if you are a careful person. The rubber strap should also offer more grip. I used to ride with cheap lamps and never had any issue!

For me personally, a multi-mode bike light is the better choice for road driving. In this way, the lighting can be adjusted according to the environment to suit the scene.

Another (possibly better) option is the Outbound lighting Trail Evo combined with the Hangover. Wireless, but with a usb-c pass through charging for extended rides.

You would lose the ability to look thru corners. With lights only on the bars you loose the ability to do turns well imo.

Place them far from each other, as close as grips as you can .. Angle slightly out if able This will widen your spill/spread An insane with dual combo for bar woold be 2 evos lol, but that'll double your $$$ needed

I bought a 8000 three months ago and my battery already died. I knew better then to buy anything from a Chinese company as quality and QC are notoriously bad. so you could say that’s my fault for doing it anyway. Before anyone comes here claiming theirs didn’t break. I ride 10 - 15 miles a day even through winter.

you don't need 8000 lumens for sure, specially at very dark night. But the battery life is very useful if you are travelling very remote with no power supply.

In my mind, you can never get too much light. It seems that MTB lights are always reviewed in dry conditions. When it is wet out there, you need so much more light. Also, I would never ride with just one light as suggested in the video. First of all, if it fails at high speed, you are doomed. Secondly, you need a helmet light to see obsracles like branches on trees in the woods. You will be blind above the height of the handlebars if you only have one light.

You must be lucky! That was my experience with the original magicshine and why I purchased the 8000 but I wish I could get a refund and I want others to be aware of the major degrade in quality and cheap cables. It's been a very frustrating situation with the 8000.
