MagnaFlow Cat-Back Exhaust Installation

What up fellas and ladies 😉, the time has come!! After a long time not uploading anything in these couple of months, my opportunity has arrived. In this video, we get to see my VW Jetta GLI get a custom cat-back exhaust with a MagnaFlow Resonator #10416 (Universal). I took my car to a muffler shop called "7 Days Muffler & Radiator" in Santa Ana, California, USA and their service was phenomenal! I was actually recommended by a friend of mine that also took his car to this place! If you live nearby, take your car there for your custom exhaust needs. I highly recommend these guys!

Awesome vid man..Ive been looking for a way to make my Edition 30 GLI sound more aggressive but not loud just to be loud. I had this done maybe a week ago and it sounds even better in person! Looks pretty good except for that crush bent section. What a bummer. I would've bought a couple mandrel bends and done it the 'right' way if they dont have a mandrel bender. Sounds a lot better than OEM though

At 3:40, that's the stock cat after the downpipe right? Then they upgraded the size of the new pipe to 2.5 or is stock 2.5? Then you deleted the muffler but added the magnaflow resonator right? Just trying to get all the details correct.

Yeah that’s the stock cat and also stock downpipe. They just gave me new pipes that are 2.5 inch. I believe all Jettas regardless of trim levels, come with 2.5 exhaust pipes. Yes that’s correct! My GLI came with those huge stock muffler and stock resonator. That MagnaFlow resonator gives that sweet deep tone to it. It sounds way better in person!!

Do you have any check engine lights or issue with your car ? Do you need a tune or is a tune not mandatory

Sorry for the late reply brotha. No check engine lights when having an aftermarket catback exhaust. You'll get a check engine light if you decide to install a 3" downpipe with no catalytic converter or a highflow catalytic converter with no tune. NO tune is mandatory if you're installing a catback exhaust. A Turbo-back exhaust will need a tune or you'll get that infamous check engine light.

I have a 2017 Jetta SE. I want to lower my car. Do I need a whole lowering kit or just springs? And can I used two mufflers one for the back and get the same muffler you have as a resonator?

It depends on your budget brotha. You can get some lowering springs if you have a tight budget. Coilovers are a better investment since it comes with the shock, springs, and dampening lever. And if you're a baller, then you can get some air bags for that badass slammed stance look. I think you can go with two mufflers but I don't think it recommended. Ask your local muffler shop and see if having two mufflers is okay for your car. Hope that helps!

Sure thing. For the intake system, I recommend getting a “turbo muffler delete”, a bigger “turbo outlet pipe”, and a bigger “throttle pipe”. You can find these with CTS Turbo or Neuspeed.

The GLI models 2016 and up comes with that diffuser, side skirt and rear lips from factory

Thank you brotha! We both have the 2017 GLI! What they did was they removed my stock resonator and stock muffler. They installed a MagnaFlow Resonator No.10416, new 2.5” pipe with custom tips, and no muffler.

probably not, the polo gti is a lot shorter than the gli, and has a different exhaust length

What's up brotha! My apologies for the late reply. Yes, you can do this to you Jetta SE 2.5 as well! Yours is going to sound a lot better than mine because you have 5 cylinder motor and gives out a near Audi sound or a VR6 sound. Look up Catback exhaust for a 2.5 MK6 Jettas. Yes they took off my stock res and muffler and placed the MagnaFlow resonator with no muffler. I appreciate that bro thank you! Let me know when your car gets its exhaust upgrade!

The whole custom cat back exhaust costed $300 cash and that’s including labor. They installed the MagnaFlow resonator only, no muffler.

luisgotgli its a magnaflow magnapack. Straight through muffler. They just put it not where the original muffler was. Sounds good! Just saying it’s still a muffler, it’s like a cherry bomb glasspack just magnaflow brand. Does it drone inside the cab when cruising on the highway or something? Thanks.

It all depends if your aiming on doing performance or cosmetic changes. Do you want to start with looks or speed up your Jetta?

I would go with the suspension first before buying wheels. Wheels come in different colors, styles, and sizes so wheels should be picked wisely since they are not cheap. After that maybe add some RGB lights behind your front grille or underneath your car perhaps? 😊

It's been fantastic brotha! As of now I have a downpipe installed and I just got a MagnaFlow Muffler. It's sounds deeper and not too loud either!

ooh and I almost forgot. It costed me $300. This was the cost for putting new 2.5" pipes, MagnaFlow Resonator, and the dual chrome tips. No muffler at that time.

Those wheels are my stock wheels, in other words, factory wheels. They are called VW Mallory wheels and size is 18x7.5, offset 51, and 5x112 bolt pattern.

I bought exhaust at the shop. They had the 2.5” pipes in stock. I was planning to go straight pipe but I asked if they had any resonators in stock and they only had MagnaFlow resonators.

Nick Gur yup that is true. I even asked them if they can install a downpipe I was going to buy online (at that time) and they said no because “those don’t come with a catalytic converter”. My mind went like... wtf? I told them that the one I was going to buy comes with a high-flow catalytic converter. From there they said yeah alright then but with a “I don’t think I can do it” facial expression.

When getting a 3” downpipe... hell no! But, I’m not going to need a smog check for another 5 years. A new California law passed that starting January 1, 2019, owners of vehicles eight or less model years old will pay an annual smog abatement fee for the first eight registration years instead of being required to provide a biennial smog certification. Got this info from the CA DMV website.
