I have the series 3 and after less than a year the lock broke and won't unlock again! This is becoming a tough project to replace if the mechanism is stuck in the lock position.

Is there a way to adjust the "opener" on the top so that it is harder to pull up. Our 3-1/2 year old grandson figured out how to open the gate on the first day. If it was "tighter/harder to pull up" would possibly deter him. We have used the key to lock it now knowing that he can get in with no problem otherwise.

Is there a way to set up this lock where the key can not be removed in the unlocked position? In other words, once you open the gate, you have to lock it to remove your key? Anybody know?

Hello Brian, Our MagnaLatch allows for the key to be removed in both the locked and unlocked position. The cylinder in our unit will only operate this way, and cannot be adjusted. A locksmith may have a Kwikset 6 pin cylinder they'd be able to provide for your latch to function this way. Let us know if we can provide any additional assistance. D&D Technologies
