That is why it was dumped ... the scumbags who stole this might have had some real copper tubing. This crap they cut off the ends, seeing the similar size of these pieces, after they burned off the outer plastic ... or the scumbags stole this not knowing it was just plated in copper ... burned it after cutting it down, discovered it was not worth a cent really, and dumped it. Either way the scumbags have hopefully been caught in the act. You got to steal metal to scrap to survive ... you don't really need to be adding to the gene pool.
@rogerflanigan64275 жыл бұрын
@Xtreme Performance It's #4 rigid, it has iron in it so it sticks to a magnet. I use it all the time in service installations. It's worth half of whatever copper value is, I've scrapped lots of little pieces.

@@roydriver74 Science is an amazing thing. Copper is not Ferrous. Iron and Steel are. Copper is not Magnetic. Iron and Steel are. I use a 2350# Magnet when I take apart Jewelry [[among other things]] to pull the Steel clasps and parts out of the crushed Jewelry. THEN, in order to remove Copper, Brass, Lead solder and other things such as Nickle I use acid to dissolve them leaving Gold and Silver behind. I do this for a living. Trust me-not everyone is "Dumb".

A lot of electric utilities will use steel wire with a heavy copper coating. The steel is for strength when spanning a large distance between anchoring points and the copper coating is for electrical conductor.

Electricity flows almost entirely on the outer surface of a conductor. With copper covered steel you get the benefits of copper on the outer surface and the tensile strength of steel. Also a stranded wire is smaller than a solid wire of the same rating because of all the surfaces it provides. Somebody was really disappointed when they found out what they had taken such a chance in stealing!!!!!

copper is not magnetic. It wont stick to a magnet, that's how they test it at the recycle yard when you go, if it looks like copper but a magnet sticks to it you get steel price or an in between price. You have mostly steel there if the magnet is sticking to it.
