I once saw an interview with Mike Judge where he was asked how his physics degree translated to working on animated television shows. He related a story of some MTV network types meeting with him and discussing ratings statistics. They showed him the stats but were grossly distorting what the figures represented, and he was able to call them on their bu11$!t. Mike Judge further said the study of physics involves a lot of statistics and this event allowed him to apply what he learned in a practical way and stopped the network gaslighting of what the ratings system reported about his show.
