#DidYouKnow: The most powerful magnet in the universe is actually a star called a magnetar. These are stars that have died off and had a supernova explosion. The magnetars are what is left over, and they are strong enough to destroy small planets if they get close enough. I have a doubt...! What is thing which seperates magnet as North and south??? Is there any particular thing which is present in both sides or there anything which is present in one of them not other?? or it is based on the directions?? If it is based on directions then what makes north and what makes south sides in a magnet???

An electric field is generated from a stationary electric charge, a magnetic field is generated from a charge that moves at constant speed, and an electromagnetic wave is generated from a charge that is moving at an acceleration. On the other hand, a gravitational field appears in a stationary mass, and a gravitational wave appears in a mass that accelerates. But why is it said that nothing comes out of a mass that moves at constant speed? Isn't it possible that something unknown comes out of a mass that is linearly moving at constant speed? If it comes out and it is a force in the form of repulsion, dark energy is explained without dark matter. There are so many interstellar objects (planets, asteroids) in linear motion in the universe ...

You pose a great question. Is magnetic force a contact force? You concluded it is not a contact force. And that case can easily be made by showing the visible body of the magnet and the nail do not appear to be touching. At least not what the human eye can see. But that begs the question "Is the magnetic force that emanates from the magnet to the nail a physical force or not?" It's not visible to the human eye. But does that mean it's not there in physical form? Just because our eyes can't see magnetic force does not mean it doesn't exist. It's quite obvious magnetic force does exist. I think the opposite case could be made as well. Do we define magnetic force as a physical force? I think yes because magnetic force has the ability to move physical things. So I think the conclusion that magnetic force is indeed a contact force is equally as valid. I think we need to determine how to test for which definition of physical magnetic force we choose to accept. We can't see a spot on earthe 1,000 miles away from us, but it doesnt mean that location is not a physical place just because we can't see it. This is an awesome video that sparks questions and imagination, and that is the cutting edge of science. Thank you.
