It looks better than some of the commercial products! Great idea. I tried something similar with teddy bear/fleece kind of material and covered it with texture paste. It is thicker than these roads but stick to the mat firmly due to that 'hairy' structure on the bottom.

Many thanks. I can see that your idea would also work well too. Would also be a great way of making textured fields? Cheers, Lee.

@@legrambo Maybe. But what I see here looks better imo so you don't have to test this method. :) The fleece material is thicker so it stans out a bit more and sometimes I have to straighten it up under a cutting mat if it was laying bent for longer period of time. But I only did small road and plan on doing more. I was thinking about using something like a rubber mat. An idea taken from channel called Black Magic Craft.

Thanks Lee for introducing me to the advantages of magnetic paper. I picked some up at Hobbycraft last week and I will be using it for some BUA bases and some fields. All good. Norm.

Cheers Norm, I hope it does the job for you. I have only used the Vallejo Earth texture on it, straight from the pot and it remains flexible and does not crack when flexed. I'm also planning fields :) All the best, Lee.

Nice ideas, thanks. As to fences, I just purchased some HO fencing and trimmed it down.

Many thanks. I might try the 00 fence and trim it down a bit as suggested above, would save so much time. We're not that far apart, I'm in Medway, outskirts of Chatham so not that glamourous either :) I used to like Margate. Cheers, Lee.

Hello Lee. Really nice table. Great idea using magnetic paper for the roads. May I ask what medium you used to texture the roads, to maintain the flexibility. Was it Builders Chauk. Thank you for the very interesting videos. Keep up the good work.

Hello MrMicky :) Thank you very much for the comment. I have used Vallejo Earth Texture (Brown Earth) for all of the groundwork on figure bases, terrain bases and the road and river sections. It's such a great product and covers really well even over the magnetic paper coating and is flexible enough not to crack. I find that a pot of this lasts me many months. It can be used straight from the pot or thinned with water if required. Hope this helps. Cheers, Lee.
