This is the 6th time I watch this series and always asif the first time I watched and I always cried of Mehmet death 😢😢

It's true that Mustafa, Selim, Beyazid, and Chihangir all possess one of Sulieman's marks or characteristics. But Mehmet possessed them all. Mehmet was literally the younger self of Sultan Suleiman. He possessed Sulieman's good conscience, wisdom, intelligence, art, taste, and courage. Sadly, Mehmet died. He would've been an Incredible Sultan, and the entire course of history would've changed for the Turks.

The problem with Mehmet (at least his portrayal in this series) is that he was extremely naive, he was not following up on internal palace politics at all, being in the dark almost all the time, while Hurrem and Mihrimah did all the scheming and plotting.

@@Maturas I agree, however, the reason why he was in the dark all the time not knowing anything is because Hurrem Sultan didn't tell him, including her other sons. She only started telling them after Mehmet died (She learned that Mehmet not knowing anything about Mahidevran and the others caused his death.) She first told Mihrimah then as the episodes went by she would tell Selim and Beyazid, she refrained from telling most of the things to Chihangir because he was "sensitive" (as she always describes him) and also because he loves Mustafa.

Exactly no one pays attention to Mehmet death ... Where is Mehmet concubine she was pregnant right? Hurrem tells mustafa that she met him on mehmet funeral but she was found after Mehmet's death.. and how did bali bey found her ? Where was she all these years.

After rewatching the series for 3rd time, I realised Mustafa himself is also a great reason for his downfall. He knew what could make his father angry and upset. Still, he chose to please the soldiers, not his father. The support of troops is important but is it bigger than the great sultan?

The craziest thing he’s done was going to istanbul carrying his sword and marching with his soldiers. Should’ve been executed that day. Mehmet was the best for the throne (and suleymans dreams were representative of that). He was smart, strong, just and fair. Mustafa had a lot of good qualities too, but his worst feature was how he was so easily manipulated by the women around him. He made a lot of mistakes and was honestly not worthy of ruling. His biggest attribute was being the first prince and that’s it. cihangir was handicapped because of back but he was the most brilliant and would have honestly been so great. If only.

Everyone complaining about Meryem not playing Hürrem in later episodes but y’all seem to forget, her character was getting older and this new actress’ portrayal of a more mature, composed and elegant Sultana fits the part. Yes, Meryem was an incredible actress and executed her role as a younger version of Hürrem but sadly, her time with the show was up and she decided to move on. Give credit where credit is due. Vahide was brilliant! ❤

Why did both Hurrem and Suleyman prefer Selim out of all of their sons? I can understand that Cihangir could not follow his dad on the throne, but why did Suleyman choose Selim? It was Mahidevran who was responsible for the death of Mehmed, she paid the young man (who carved the horse) to be mehmeds friend and she got him to infect the small wound he gave Mehmed with smallpox on purpose when they were practising sword fighting.
