Hurrem's death and the way Suleiman was so saddened and depressed was heart wrenching! The devastation that was left in Suleiman was so strongly portrayed that it really did make you feel his utter pain. But unfortunately for everyone else in the palace Suleiman being the sultan of the world couldn't even tolerate the slight sound of anyone talking and took it out on them. Even in the plates and linens had to be plain, and the harem had to do without anything fancy or pleasurable. Understandable because he just lost his beloved wife. That servant Ferhat who seemed to be the one few person who could talk to him in a calm manner and seemed to help Suleiman when he was troubled. He did know the right times to show up and gave the sultan some wisdom and comforting words like he did after Hurrem died.

If you remember in episode 135, Suleiman was standing on his balcony before Hurrem's funeral and it was freezing cold and snowing We know from history that Hurrem Sultana died on 15 April 1558, in the spring. But when Ferhat Agha came in there was no snow. This was in the mind of Suleiman, who was in an eternal winter because his beloved wife had just died. Unfortunately, for his family, staff, and subjects, Suleiman went into a deep depression in which his moods grew more darker and irritable towards everyone. He spent the last 8 years of his life like this. Nothing was able to better his growing irrational behaviours. It is a shame that one person's death could so devasted another completely. He really must of loved her so deeply that her death just shattered him utterly. What a shame!!

Just finished watching this series, for the second time. It is by far, the best historical period drama, ever made. The actors are phenomenal, especially Halit and Meryem, and even Vahide. I was apprehensive at first, and truthfully would have loved to have seen Meryem in these death scenes, but Vahide was amazing as an older Hurrem. I don't think I've ever watched a show that moved me, made me angry, made me laugh, and made me cry the ugly cry, as Magnificent Century. Don't think there will ever be a show even close to it. Even worse, don't think I'll be able to watch another series without constantly comparing it to this one. Episode 134 and 135 are one of the best, the acting is beyond words. Thank you to Halit for portraying and projecting his heartache so well, across the screen. You actually feel his pain and heartbreak ♥

This an episode that shows that no matter how they all hated Hurrem, they all have done bad things to Hurrem. In the end they knew that they were just jealous of Hurrem. She's never that perfect she admitted that, but she acts for love and fights for it to survive. All of them did...but Hurrem has a way that makes you feel the love in her. That's the reason why Sultan Suleiman love her among all his concubines. Hurrem is unique!

It’s even more infuriating when you realize beyazid died for nothing. Selim ruled after Suleiman for around 4 to 5 years only, and died by slipping in the bathroom since he was such a drunkard. Such a humiliating way to die as a sultan. Selim was the beginning of the downfall of the empire. Yes they had some good sultans later like Ahmet and extremely strong and valiant ones like Murad, but in general there were many bad ones than good ones.

Nurbanu is so dense to not realize what the ring meant for Hurrem 🤦‍♀- she legit said that it was a symbol of her love. And there is a reason you should not be taking valuable things of a deceased person (in the sense that the object has a meaning for the person). And it sort of turned out be a curse for the wearer in the upcoming generations (fiction - and both versions of MC). Remember how Suleiman was under stress when he kept clinging with Mustafa's letter and ring? He only found solace after destroying both - in his case it was regret and grief of losing a son IMO as per show. I do understand that the ring is fictionalized for drama purposes.

The overall point was to show an example as to not take objects that belong to the dead. Suleiman's grief for Mustafa ended only after burning his letter and ring (as in he got slightly better), until which he was not really himself - not to forget Cihangir also died in a short span of time.

What a wonderous thing: I’ve spend the last week crying and hoping and mad at and for people who have been dead for 500 years… I know their lives weren’t as soap-like as in the series but we can all imagine the pain and absolute helplessness of seeing your family being murdered and becoming a slave. The weight of the world on Suleyman’s shoulders, all the Ottomans being prisoners in their palaces in a way, especially those with girlparts. As I watched I sometimes searched for whats known of the real persons… I tell you one thing: for all the gold and gems in Suleyman’s treasury I would not want to have to spend my days in the 16th century. Not for any love or being remembered 5 centuries later.

i had really bad past couple of days and was on the verge of crying so I quickly resumed MC to distract myself, but just as i clicked play the scene at 10:39 started playing & made me break down. the music is actually the instrumental to a song from my country (Macedonia) so it really hit close to home. i've noticed it playing in the background during touching moments (Fun fact: the actress that played Nigar, who is actually from Macedonia herself, sang it to her daughter as a lullaby in ep. 76, and you can hear the instrumental moments before her death) and it's just beautiful, yet so sad. you hear a mother's fears, advice and final words to her merciful, benevolent son. his mother was one of the only people he had left, and now she's gone too. the poetry has been worded so beautifully and unfortunately holds a lot of truth - "this world is for cruel people, not for the valiant. if you're not like them, if you're not cruel... they won't let you live" - breaks my heart knowing he's going to get killed just a few of episodes later for this exact reason :( he's my favourite character and i see myself a lot in him - stubborn, impulsive, not bending down to others and putting your pride aside yet loving, kind, selfless, forgiving, just and finding yourself doing things for people that wouldn't do the same for you.

This movie is really worth seeing. I have seen it many times and I still can’t get tired of it. Because of this movie, I feel like going to Turkey. I am in love with the country and its people. I just hope I have the means😅

Don't be fooled. The Turks were not as magnanimous as they are portrayed here. They raided Christian lands, burned pillaged, enslaved and killed the inhabitants. They roamed the Mediterranean Sea capturing ships, stealing the goods and either killing or enslaving those on board. They were not tolerant of other religions as was portrayed. The whole code of Islam is to either convert or kill the "infidels". Don't assume this soap opera is a true portrayal of history.

Defne told Bayezid to forget mercy and so did Nurbanu to Selim. It’s clear now that these women are afraid for their children to face death when either prince ascends the throne. If it were possible, the sultan should make Murat the heir like in his dream and banish both princes and their harem to the furthest province. Keep Murat at the capital under the protection of Ferhat and Sumbul!

Even if Suleiman loves Hurrem , it was a very sacrificial love Hurrem felt .The loneliness and miseries she felt everytime Sileiman sleeps with other concubines, the feeling is so tormenting . Its not only onve there are arrays of women bedded by the sultan. . .like Isabella, Firuze, Sadika,GuinihalNazenin and many others unnamed.Hurrem got her sickness of loneliness and depression out of these , out of Suleiman's womanizing..Even her best friend Guinihal became a victibut the worst was Nazenin being impregnated by Suleiman. To be fair - it was a harem. The sultan was not supposed to, or expected to, stick to one woman. The fact that he mostly stuck with Hurrem caused a lot of outrage (and jealousy). We cannot moralize with our own sense of cultural morals over the morals and customs of a different culture 500 years ago. It was worse that he left her to fend for herself too much than him serving himself of the harem he had been raised to be entitled to.
