He knew his mothers hatred for Hurrem but presumed all his children were the same in the eyes of his fami,y I ran Ibrahim and the people. Mustafa was heir presumptive so he was being groomed but Mehmet was Sulieman’s favourite and he showed this as he got older which brought out jealousy in Mustafa and his mother.

When Mehmet and Mustafa was young both Hurrem and Mahidevran cared for the childs. 1.When Mustafa was sick Hurrem actually was worried about him, 2.When Mehmet almost drowned Mahidevran saved him, 3.After Hatice's wedding when the man's in red suits (idk what are they called) attacked they had to stay in a basement kinda room and Hurrem took care or Mustafa, 4.Same goes to Mahidevran she took care of Mihrimah in absence of Hurrem. But the poison of being the haseki and their sons being the sultan made them kill each other's child.

In my opinion Mahidevran actually has a good heart. She loves and respects Valide. Her affection for Hatice is also beautiful. I loved their bond in this earlier episodes.Most of the concubines liked her and she was respected very much in Manisa. Hurrem gave birth to shehzade but still concubines called her Hatun. Because Mahidevran often sent gifts to them , acted like a sultana in the beginning. When Sadika saved princes she wanted to reward her and Hurrem didn't even thank her. Plus the way Mahidevran saved Mehmet says a lot about her character. It's all because she lost Suleiman to Hurrem and her sorrow turned in to jealousy and hatred . She wasn't as smart as Hurrem that's why she did terrible mistakes. She couldn't accept that Suleiman never really loved her. Whatever she did was evil.Of course poisoning Hurrem was a terrible act.But I don't think she was an evil person. We saw whenever she's happy she behaved differently, she was helpful, kind.Mahi was hurt when she saw Sadika went to private chamber but she gifted her that bracelet because she was taking care of Mustafa. Later in the series when sultan was ill she was waiting for the opportunity for him to die. I don't think it was because she was evil. It was expected. Hurrem already poisoned Mustafa before. It was obvious Suleiman's death would benefit her the most. And when you finally understood that a man you loved would never love you back no matter what happens and him being alive might be harmful for your only child. How many of you would want him to be alive? Suleiman loved everyone except her. That's why everyone at that time was sad but her. It's actually Suleiman's fault . Also in religion it is said if you can't be fair to your wives or your life partners if you have more than one. Then don't have more than one . He loved Hurrem but he should've showed a bit affection and love for Mahidevran. It's the rule of religion but he was so cold towards her. That made Mahidevran go crazy. Mahidevran wanted power and luxury like everyone else did but she was dumb and didn't think in long term . But she wasn't evil .
