I expected Hurrem to use her meeting with Mustafa to explain to him the situation that happened before Mustafa barged in and then invoke his sense of justice (similar to the just nature of his father) telling him not to be blinded by emotion for his mother when it comes to act like a future Sultan. Yeah, it might have worked if she pointed out that he only gets his mother's side of the story and if he wants to judge fairly, he should hear both sides. If I were her, I would have mentioned rebellion where she was almost killed as the most recent example out of many of how she's been treated unfairly for years. I would have urged him to talk to Aygibe and Daye to get an unbiased account as to what went down, and that might have shown Mustafa that his mother and his grandmother don't always tell the truth about her. In any case, it probably wouldn't have been any more damaging than what she ended up saying even if he didn't believe her in the end. But, as smart as Hurrem is, she doesn't always keep her cool when her pride is hurt and the expression on her face showed that she knew that she blew it.

If you read the true History of this story. Mustafa is executed by his father Sulleyman and he was innocent because Hurrem. Ibrahim Pasa is also slain. Only one out of his five sons survive, I think it was Salem, the youngest sibling. History is bloodthirsty and tragic unfortunately
