I never NEVER liked Ibrahim but this whole situation made me loathe him in a way I didn't know I could hate an actor's character. It actually made it hard for me to watch his other work. I know that's stupid but this is a good and long show about the history of the ottoman empire that I've studied very very heavily since childhood and was able to visit as well. So it's hard sometimes separate the character from the actor.... which really just shows they have excellent acting skills.

One of my favorite actors is Alan Rickman (May he RIP). He played some truly despicable characters during his career such as Hans Gruber in Die Hard and the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. He also played Severus Snapes in the Harry Potter movies. I loved him in Galaxy Quest. I would have loved to have seen him in another Galaxy Quest movie but it wasn't to be. For me, I won't confuse the actor with characters that he portrays otherwise, you won't be able to enjoy that actor in other things he does.

I know its a series not a documentary, but this is too much. It was Hurrem who broke the tradition of mothers accompanying Princes for the first time, but they are showing as if it was mahidevran the one, like is it a joke... They did it every time as they have previously shown mahidevran holding the haseki title before Hurrem, but in reality that title itself was created for the first time only for hurrem. Mahidevran was never a haseki sultan, just forget about haseki, she was not even an ordinary sultana. Throughout her life time she was only dignified as mahidevran 'hatun'. Its so.... ridiculous 😤

Yep, this is heavily dramatised to the point that if you know about the history of Suleiman and Hurrem it kinda infuriates you. The writing sucks here and more so because this is a Turkish series. They shouldn't have messed up the facts even for drama.

EXACTLY!!! If you read the Facebook comments most are split: half supports Hurrem, the other Mahidevran- based on short 10 mins clips. Mahidevran supporters think she is Suleiman's 'first wife' -which is incorrect and highly annoying because Hurrem was Suleiman's legal wife and first Ottoman Queen. However, they are persistent and are sympathetic to her 'endless tears'.

Mahidevran was not haseki but she was a sultan. Suleiman's grandfather's era was when they started calling the favourites sultan rather than hatun.

Peirce was able to find harem documents from Süleyman II’ s reign in which his consorts are all titled "KADIN", i.e. concubines, who are mothers of children. The childless concubines wearing title "HATUN" (lady). "Gözdes" are bedded concubines, resided in Topkapi Palace because they were “in the eye of the sultan”, as their names means. Simple concubines are title less and without a status. Ottoman princesses were the only women to carry the title of sultan (bestowed upon them by Bayezid II himself), but even they were ranked below the "haseki sultan", because the "haseki" was the mother of a potential sultan. After the execution of Mustafa Mahidevran lost her status ("kadin") as mother of the prince. She was never a "Sultana" or a "Haseki". In general the "kadın's" would never reach the "haseki's" influence and powers. "Haseki Sultan" was the title reserved for the favorite chief consort of the Ottoman sultan. Hurrem Sultan was the first to hold this title after , she became legally married to Suleiman the Magnificent. The last "haseki" was Rabia Sultan (Emetullah Rabia Gülnüş).
