I think one of the main things that made Hurrem smarter than Mah, was Hurrem most of the time spoke positive or in support of Mustafa when with the Sultan. It made hurrem look good because she was supporting a son, she didnt give birth to or that Hurrem wasnt planning on who would be the next Sultan. While Mahv, always spoken negative about Hurrem and her children. And always showed she waned her son Mustafa as the next Sultan.

3:30 say what you want but Ibrahim was in that position for 13 years, and it took years for him to get truly arogant to the point of "noone can hurt me" while Lütfi started with it the day he was appointed. No wonder he lasted only 2 years in that position. Thats also the big diffrence between them and Rüstem who while I get many don't like never acted like he was above Sultan. The sultan was absolutely right in his description of Mustafa, he is so childishly arrogant that he cannot see his number one requirement of being a prince is to always obey the Sultan and not act without the permission of the Sultan, yet he keeps doing what he pleases as he thinks he knows best. Mustafa should fear both his mother and father and not assume better but rather he thinks he will be always supported.
