Murad is exactly the way Bayezid (Hürrem and Suleiman's son) would've been as a Sultan. Bayezid was too quick to anger and acted on emotions which is why his parents didn't trust him to sit on the throne (his brother Selim was placed instead). Murad rules in the same way, hence Kösem's insistence on sharing his power (although she too was just power hungry).

I don’t get why kosem is this way with murad, he’s a lot like his father in the way he thinks and he’s incredibly strong and is helping the people, he’s a good sultan which is what she wanted?

Because he is affected by his childhood and rules with anger ! She knows he will never be alive too long because of the way he is !

Because he is too angry. If he was more stable and level headed he would be as perfect for the rule as Suleiman 1. or Mehmed 2. But his anger got better of him. Just look at the scene where he throws the priest from the walls. The most logical (and maybe more cruel but also very likely successful) solution would be to torture him until he speaks. By killing him he actually undermines his own goals.

It was Osman, the first son born from a concubine. He was sultan briefly before he was killed. His character was not mentioned in the 1st season.

​@@hajrasajjad Sorry, disagree somewhat. Princes Farya could have been and should have been a really awesome character and in many ways she is awesome. Farya's original character concept and the premise for her being in Instanbul were great and had so much potential. Of all the main characters, Farya is perhaps the only one who never lies to Murad and she always accepts the consequences for her misdeeds even if it means her own death - provided she accepts she has done the wrong thing. Her courage and honesty are very endearing traits to Murad. The actress (Farah) who plays Farya is a tremendous actress and she owns a lot of her scenes, plus the chemistry between her and the actor who plays Murad (Metin) is great. But the writers, dropped the ball in a few ways and damaged her character a bit I think. For example, they overplayed how skilled with a sword Farya was in the first episode as she dispatches maybe 8 or 9 bad guys with her Katana. While this is an impressive scene, it isn't consistent with her combat skills later in the series. Might have been much better if she had fought defensively and only dispatched 3 or 4 bad guys in that scene. That said if you watch the series with a small pinch of salt, Farya has a lot of fantastic moments and some good character arcs many of which are quite heartwarming and moving.

I think Murad became more aggressive because most of his viziers and his own mother had no trust on him..they thought Murad was young and he would have an end like his half brother Sultan osman.. But i find Murad was Very sharp, strong and focused unlike his late brother.. He had so many qualities for being a great Sultan.. Even Murad was very protective towards his brothers but unfortunately their mothers (kosem and gulbahar) ruined the whole thing.

I love the old actress performed kosem role model her facial expressions were outstanding comparing to new kosem is very dull. I pity Murad as he has to shoulder the burden of state & country as the sultan after Osman's death. Not a single Sultans were compared to sultan Suleiman Khan husband of Hurrem Sultan & Sultan Ahmed husband of Kosem. They did a great job to uphold the dynasty. I like murad's justice

I think one of the key problems in the second series, Kosem doesn't seem to have any worthy rivals. Sultana Gulbahar is okay but she seems a rather pantomime villain who does not have the level of menace and threat that Sultana Safiye and Sutana Halime had in season 1.

Anyways, I just need to vent. If the West actually studied the history of the Middle East, they’d realize that it was an epi-center of all faiths, creeds, races, and ethnicities that lived amongst one another for hundreds of years rather peacefully. Science, art, literature, and mathematics flourished there before religious leaders decided we all should bow before them. How tragic and sad it is to see such a great civilization end because of religious zealots of all faiths. What scares me the most is that religious zealotry is on the rise again in every country world wide. The left took the pendulum to far left and now the right will swing back even harder to restore order to the system. At least in the days of our ancestors, you had your horse, a sword, shield, bows, arrows, gun powder and knives. That was a fair fight. Today, we have weapons that will destroy the planet. Forget just destroying a a group of people or a country, but the entire Earth. Not a fair fight at that point. We’re no different than our ancestors were hundred of years ago. Most people just wanted a safe place to sleep, food, a little money, and their friends and family surrounding them. The common people have little say in government policy. It’s always some idiot that thinks they’re God messing up everything for the rest of us. At least the people went buckwild against their rulers back then. If we did that today, they’d take those weapons and point them at us.
