At that time it did not matter. Concubines only existed to please the sultan and bear princes. They were traditionally not allowed a 2nd child. Keeping the dynasty going was all that mattered. Every concubine who bore a member to the dynasty, would of course have some privileges and live a better life, but that's all. They had no actual rights as a parent. The thing is that even blood members of the dynasty typically don't own anything. There is only one person who decides and that's the Sultan. He started out wanting revenge for Iskander Celebi and went off on his own, and I think Ibrahim shouldn't have warned him like that when The Sultan comforted him. 😅 It made him more sharp. Hurrem wanted power to be treated well and then fell in love and stayed loyal. Rustem was in love but bitterly. Of course, Mihrrimah never loved him, we cannot blame her. She must have endless spite for being forced to endure as a young and beautiful Sultana, such a marriage. Especially since her mother promised her something. They do resemble themselves. I always wonder why Valide & her daughters like Mahidevran so much. She’s never treated like a slave, and instead like an equal. Valide cared for her feelings and tried to sabotage Hurrem from the beginning. Meanwhile we don’t see other favourites of Mustafa or Mehmet being so loved. Mahi is nice to Mustafa’s daughter’s mother (forgot her name) and previously Fatma for the sake of the children. Nothing more. Even Gulfem is treated like family. Because they’re easy to control and thus safe, perhaps? Even then it’s a bit much. They even treat their husbands like slaves.

Valide Sultan simply liked Mahidevran so much like her bride. Ibrahim liked her as well because they all spend so much time in Manisa. That's why everybody liked her. As usual, for the sake of drama, they come up with a conflict out of nowhere. No one would ever send Hurrem with her sons to the Sanjak when she leads the harem and has a small, sick son in her arms, who cannot live even a day without her presence. Cihangir would not have been allowed to leave the palace, since the best hospital and doctors were located there, and without his mother nearby, he would have fallen ill and withered away. This is not the same situation as Mahidevran. Mahidevran was removed from the post of head of the harem because of her extravagance, and only after that she was sent to the Sanjak. If she had a small son, she would also be left in the palace.
