Originally based on their loyalty to Murad. I lost alot of respect for Kemankes when he switched his allegiance to Kosem, to the level of murdering Farya and Silhatar. But it was due to having fallen in love with her, after being assigned by Murad to keep an eye on her, which initially he did NOT want to do. Then he ended up saving her life, which always creates a bond. In the end, when Murad's chosen successor was murdered, rather than having the Empire dissolve into chaos, they bound together behind Kosem in hopes of her regency by Turhan's child. But Turhan wouldn't have it, and ended Kosem's rule and all of her loyalists.

One thing that I have learned from Kosem's enemy is that whenever they were caught in actions they always curse Kosem as if they don't commit serious crimes. Actually, what happens between Kosem and her enemies is that a war; If Kosem wins then they are lost or otherwise situation like what s happening in this last episode. Kosem only applies the idea the survival of the fittest; Only the strong will do. At the beginning I like Hurrem character, but when I watch about Kosem, then I realize that Kosem only tried to survive in the period of chaos in which every subject focused his or her mind how to take power in Konsem's Tiara.. If Kosem's enemies cursed her, it means that they cursed themselves proving Kosem is more powerful influence than they have. despite her tragic end, I respect so much about her struggles to keep Ottoman Dynasty on the ground until 400 years later.

What a great journey it has been! It was so nice to see Anastasia in this episode. It reminded me of the sweet, innocent girl Kosem used to be when she first came to the harem. It would've been nice if they had included a short scene with Ahmed welcoming Kosem into the afterlife or something like that. I'm just a bit sad that the last 4 episodes were so dark and rushed. @@Haneefayusuf How can you forget that Kosem brought up Osman, her stepson, as her own? If she wanted, she could've just ordered one of her trusted aghas to kill an infant Osman so that she could safely secure a place (aka throne) for her first born Mehmet. I think both Hurrem and Kosem contributed equally to their motherhood. Hurrem had the luck of a dignified death -- I mean she didn't have to die on the hands of her enemies-- because the presence of magnificent and powerful Sultan Sulyeiman made a huge difference; his presence was like a "guarantee" to Hurrem's life unlike Kosem who carried all the weight of her friends and enemies alike on her shoulders as Ahmed dies too early at mere 27. Kosem didn't have what Hurrem had, no matter how powerful she was -- a Sultan who trusted her , who cherished her and would do anything to protect her.

I saw many hate comments for kosem sultan. But I would say it was the state men who made her like that (not like shown in this series). In real history, she was far shook by the death of Ibrahim and decided to retire to the old palace, but the state men didn't allow her to do that. They forced her to stay and rule them as regent. This was how she became what she ended up, as she saw herself as irreplaceable and became very rude and power hungry. But it was never historically accurate that she tried to kill sultan mehmet as she was the one who didn't even kill her husband's brother twice then how would she think to kill her own grandson. It was only rumered that she tried to kill the sultan , and it may be an excuse made by them to get a fetwa, as a valide sultan can never be executed at any circumstance.

@helbetteyes, yes, yes him. I know it is a movie. But, I wish there was another way. Remember when he was pleading with her. 'You promise you will protect me". And, so on. Like almost saves him. I don't know what to tell you @helbette my heart destroyed at the end of the Series. When they lock him in with no food. They even pour metal in the locker. I told my sister to watch the Series. I also told her the end is very painful.

@helbetteright on target. I wish they had a little happy ending. Just a little. What kills me is how Ibrahim, Kasiun, and how Mustafa suffered.

She was good to the ppl but the worst to her own kids. I dont think i can ever look past that tbh.

So ironically, in an attempt to avoid the fratricide of the old system where the princes were murdered to protect the sultans reign , Kosem has traversed a path of destruction, sacrificing the sultan each time in order to protect the remaining princes, one after the other until there were none left. I'm sure if she'd have murdered Mehmed she'd have worked her way through her remaining grandsons in the same way. In her own words - " Yazik "

What a great drama! The title certainly befits the story. Great casts, costumes and acting. Lighting on some of the episodes were dim. The Eng subs for international fans ( though not up to the standard of translation) is fine as there were no interruption throughout all the episodes. The ending is not much to look forward to, telling us that where there is power there will certainly be betrayal. A great thank you to the producers.

My opinion is that Kosem was a great Sultana very brave wise and strong. She did not want her empire to crumble so she took precautions which she felt were right due to the fact that certain persons were not fit to govern.

True.. Finally someone who understands her, rather than simply blaming her for being power-hungry. It was just her helplessness

I love the friendship of kemankes and Huseyin ..i love both of them , i can't differentiate how i love them. One thing Anastasia appeared again at the last and the background music hit me so hard, 😥😥😥

I think its not right to blame Kosem as a power monger.. Her situation and struggles only she could have known.. When somethings go wrong, its easy to blame a single woman.. But its the strength of this single woman that the dynasty survived through 3 full generations.. Hats off to the woman 🙏🙏🙏

True. But she actually said that she'll gladly give up on her grandsons. One will go, another will come!

Brilliant show! I only wish we had more episodes for the reign of Sultan Ibrahim. These last 4 episodes felt really rushed, especially Turhan's characters development. I mean, they showed us the annoying fictional Farya Bethlen for so many episodes, and the most important enemy of Kosem got only 4. It's not fair. Still... I will always admire this show for its actors, characters, costumes, settings, and even the script, with its flaws.

Agreed with you. Turhans struggle deserved more screen time...

So true! The last four episodes could have been made into a whole season! (and with the first Ibrahim starring as Sultan Ibrahim).

the reason why the season is so short is because season 2 doesn't get much high / good ratings

Kosem sealed her fate by trying to kill a child. It doesn’t matter what kosem did to protect the dynasty. At the end, she also became a power-hungry monster that weakened the Sultanate. Don't forget, iblees did more Ibadah than any of us did. But he became the worst creature of all. That's what happens when you cross the limits.

To conclude it all... Kosem Sultana is also a victim of circumstances as her children... After all she was left with a heavy load and great responsibility. She did everything for the empire and her children but her children didn't appreciate it instead they go astray that's where betrayals and lives need to be sacrificed to maintain its order.

I think kosem's heart always was favour of the positive thought. And all her negative decision was the consequences of other's negative activities. In her whole lifetime she punished the guilty. But Sultan Mustafa and Shahzada Eskander was targeted bcoz of their mother's ambitions.

From her abduction to her end... wow... she really had the same fate... being dragged by force and losing everything. The dynasty took everything from her right at the beginning.. what a cruel way to go. very emotional end episode. She did say she will never be like Safiye but she was worst than her. She was just truly unlucky with her children...what a fate for an innocent Anastasia.

OMG! How can a mother bare hearing her child screaming for her help like that and just turned away, poor Ibrahim I just wish I could hug him when he was screaming of fear I’m glad Atike never leave him and did whatever she could to help her brother till the end of his life he only have his twin sister but still helpless and failed to protect him but at least she never leave him.
