I enjoyed my time visiting this plantation with my mom, 20 years ago. Your video brings back precious memories. I thank you.

It is amazing to me how these videos always tell the story of how well the slave owners lived! However, many historians today advocate for calling these places “labor camps” or “slave labor camps” or "forced labor camps" rather than “plantations,” in order to avoid hiding the truth of what really happened in these agricultural operations using forced labor. The story is not told about how the plantation owners became so wealthy and able to build these homes nor how the enslaved people were whipped, raped, and treated as livestock.

We chose this location for the “From slavery to freedom” tour that was offered. Our intention on this video was to show bits of what you will see and learn at this location with a small piece of “from slavery to freedom” tour. I understand this did not go into all the details that were shared, and that is why we also posted the 2nd video with Joe’s full educational talk. I do feel that much more time should be given for this and there was so much more that could have been discussed. Thank you for your comments, as it is important for us to understand how our videos may be perceived verse our intentions.

It is amazing to me how people ignore the fact that slaves were abducted and sold into slavery by their own people.

Did this tour in 2000! I don’t remember the house looking like this.

As far as we know they didn’t change it, but maybe they just didn’t tell us. Thanks for watching.

Nice video, I thought the admission was a bit pricey but was surprised at how cheap the snacks were.

Thank you. Yes, we agree it was on the pricey side, but at least it kept us busy most of the day for what we spent. 😊

Pretty pricy! Was it worth it?

From what we remember we had to pay extra for train tour/house tour and if wanted Audubon tour. I see the tickets this year include everything except for the house tour for $35. This would definitely be worth it to me. We personally wouldn’t pay the extra for the house tour. Thanks for watching.

With alll do respect… whoever wrote the script sounds like they sat down with a thesaurus and purposefully crammed in as many higher vocabulary words in as possible. It’s really awful. Sounds completely unnatural and unnecessary.

Hey there, thanks for sharing your thoughts! It sounds like you noticed a strong use of elevated vocabulary in the script. While the intention might have been to enhance the content, it seems that it came across as a bit forced and not to your liking. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to language use, and striking a balance between clarity and sophistication can sometimes be a challenge. I think the big issue may have been my delivery of the script making it feel unnatural. Your feedback is valuable, as it offers insights into how different viewers perceive content and this is really us trying to improve.
