@classicgunstoday19726 жыл бұрын
dilbert bob it looks like those might be old dade speedloaders. (The way he pushed on the top of it to push/release the rounds, as opposed to a safariland or hks). I picked one up a few years ago. Great for reloading itself, but cartridges are not very secure as they are held in place by a spring so they tend to fall out of the loader if carried in pocket or jerked around too much.

One of the things about this movie, being as it's 1973, the shooters just wear street clothes, not tacticool range gear. I realize nobody was wearing cargo pants back then, but they also weren't wearing any other sport-specific clothes, just the same things they'd have worn going out to the park on a nice day.
@PenisMcWhirtar6 жыл бұрын
Modern sports clothes cause unhealthy pressure in the groin area - that's why there's a qualitative difference between men in those days and men today.
@Hibernicus19686 жыл бұрын
Ha! Don't know about that, but one of the things I like about just wearing normal street clothes to the range is (unless you are a member of a police SWAT team or something), is that it's closer to the "train as you you fight" maxim. Unless you are in the habit of wearing cargo pants, and lots of extra mag pouches and so on, and other range gear around, you are more likely to be wearing your ordinary street clothes than anything else should you ever be called upon to use your concealed weapon, so it's best to practice with all the same gear you're likely to have on when you actually have to use your weapon in the real world.
@PenisMcWhirtar6 жыл бұрын
Smart thinking Mr O'Connor!
@Goatboysminion5 жыл бұрын
You having said that, I recall an article in S.O.F, regarding a minor feud between competition shooters. Over what they wore during Matches. Some wanted to keep the 'Sporting' look of Polo shirts etc and they didn't particularly want people turning up in camo or "tacticool" gear. That was in the late 80s. I thought then, that unless the Tournament required period costume. Like a Wild West shootout, then anything you were comfortable in, should suffice. A bespoke Suit, Levis and sneakers or just a jockstrap. Who cares, so long as you shoot well. I also thought there should be an event where people are just wearing a towel around them. The "caught in the shower" scenario being a staple of film and television!😆
@Hibernicus19684 жыл бұрын
@Wes McGee Not quite true. Cargo pants did exist. There were military surplus pants with cargo pockets going at least back to the WWII airborne uniforms. Vietnam-era jungle fatigues had them as well, and would have been buyable at army/navy surplus stores in the 1970s. People hadn't started wearing them as range gear back then though -- or for much else for that matter.

The actor is very well trained for this role. It's not easy to use a speedloader that quickly. Nowadays, if cops still carry revolvers, I've been told by some that they use clips instead. Today, they told me they still prefer .357 Magnum. It doesn't kick like an angry horse and gets the job done. If I had the money, I'd get me a Python or an original Dan Wesson with a 4" barrel.
@snakehunter10mm4 Жыл бұрын
I used to carry a .38 snub as a back-up/i'm-not-carrying-today gun. I always carried two 5 shot speed strips in my back pocket. Less bulky and easier to conceal than speed loaders. Slower to fully load, but there's ways to train with them. Python or Dan Wesson are both good choices.
