MetalTalk’s Andy Rawll met with Magnum’s Bob Catley and Tony Clarkin on the eve of the release of ‘Live At The Symphony Hall’, their very special new album which is released today, Friday January 18th 2019 on Steamhammer/SPV.
'Live At The Symphony Hall' contains an impeccable mix of Magnum classics and cracking new songs from 2018's studio album, 'Lost On The Road To Eternity', which was universally acclaimed as one of, if not the best album of the group's entire career to date when released at the end of January this year.
As well as the new live album, Magnum comment on former keyboard player Mark Stanway's new band, Kingdom Of Madness, who feature former Magnum members performing Magnum classics.

what a terrible series of interviews. was this about the new album or another way to drag marks name through the mud. tony should be able to rise above it and concentrate on the music. sadly bob just nods and grimaces and agrees with tony the puppet master.

Totally agree....Bob is utterly unconvincing when he's trying to make out he doesn't want to play the old material.

Brilliant!!! These interviews are so funny. They should go in series as The Clarkin Catley Show. I laughed so hard at Mr. Clarkin's jokes. I wonder how he manages to come up with these fanciful ideas. But they should both definitely work on their expressions! While they were hilarious to look at Mr Catley should really try to keep control of his tongue (literally) while Mr. Clarkin should possibly try to clean his teeth prior and not during the interview. And if they then also attempt to come across a little less arrogant and unappealing they will for sure have a great career ahead of them as Britain's most underrated comedians. Awesome!

Arrogant? I've watched all the videos and there isn't an arrogant moment there. There is nothing arrogant in having confidence in your abilities.

Arrogant from start to finish. And what confidence? A musician trusting in his own abilities doesn't need to run down an other musician in trying to shine. And come to think of it has Clarkin ever been seen in the top ten of guitar players or writers? Similar to Mark Stanway who was multiple times acknowledged amongst the best of the best that keyboard playing has to offer?

Hardly anything excellent in these interviews. Sickening might be a better expression. Sole purpose seems to be the relentless bashing of their former band member to distract from themselves. Disgusting! Is Tony afraid people might find out how they’d continuously been cheated? Or is he afraid of being compared to other bands? But such “low down” interviews are probably the only way for them to stay in the news. What else do you do if you have nothing interesting to tell about your current album?
