Today my rating crossed 2000 at rapid! I'm so glad to see my rating starting with a 2. My journey started more than 10 years ago. I learned playing chess before learning to write properly It can be pathetic to getting only 2000 in 10 years, but that was my goal for a long-LONG time. Want to thank you, Levi, for motivating me continue pushing forward. Since 2020(year i started watching you) i got extra 400 points. This comment doesn't mean i am going to stop here, my next goal is to take a CM. Keep making good content!

it feels so weird to see kids as gms whereas many other people who have played chess for 30 years don't even cross 1500

Yes because kids brains are still developing and can solidify new ideas moreso than already developed adults
@ekki19932 жыл бұрын
@ChessDejavu That's not how rankings work. You can only be 1500 with enough people being 100-1400 playing worse than you.
@ekki19932 жыл бұрын
@ChessDejavu Maybe for people with the access to "the right training", or for those of us who play since we were kids. For most people it's a lot of effort to get to be top 10-15% in a platform where most players have formal chess education.
@ekki19932 жыл бұрын
@ChessDejavu But you studied the openings, reviewed games by masters, had access to the lots of good bots that exist nowadays. It really is a lot of effort for a lot of people. And, going back to the original comment, a lot of people don't even care that much to climb. Personally, having played since being 4-5 (a LOT of it over the board), I found that chess is the most fun when people don't know opening theory. Sometimes being smarter includes realising you wouldn't have fun grinding to 2000 and you'd rather stay below 1500 at 30 years old.
