Having seen many top players play a lot of games against the full range of skill, I notice that even very low ELO players can often hang with top players for many moves, but they eventually blunder and lose the game…like in many different competitive games top players just forcibly steamroll through weak opponents, but with chess it seems more like everyone plays relatively similarly early on, but the top players just almost never make big mistakes while the amateurs eventually almost always do…and watching it with the engine just reinforces this when u see how long it is equal or even a worse position against significantly weaker opponents.
