I played chess at schoolclub 45 years ago and had no clue what I was doing. These videos did not exist. Just newspaper and booklets..

That's how it was you had to go to the library and find a book on chess only to find it getting very complex and even confusing after about 10 pages then getting a newspaper and following a match with a board with numbers and letters on 2 strips of paper..one on the side and below the board but this is how i discovered the players like Kasparov karpov Fisher and capablanca but that was normal in those days

That doesn’t answer the question why Magnus in particular has become world champ. Out of the thousands and thousands of players who dedicated their whole life to the game, why weren’t the others successul? Your relativism kind of defeats itself.
