For the life of me I will never understand why he tapped there. Especially it being his UFC debut. I can tell you as a fighter that while he may not have known just how little time was left (the ten second indicator can be easy to miss sometimes), he would’ve known the round was “almost” over. And in that situation, even if you know you’ve been caught in a triangle, you stay in it and hope time runs out before you pass out.

Why would Jan’s leg kicks be worth less than other strikes when they were visibly inflicting more damage than Ankalaev’s strikes?
