In this German lesson, you will learn useful everyday vocabulary and important phrases that are used in conversations in a café, hotel and restaurant.
Ordering and paying - phrases such as “I'd like...” and “Would you like anything else?” and “How much is that?” help you to place an order and pay for it.
You will expand your vocabulary for eating and drinking.
Asking for recommendations - With “Can you recommend a restaurant?” or “Which milk is best if you want to lose weight?” German learners learn how to politely ask for advice.
Making a reservation and having a conversation - phrases such as “We have a table reservation,” “Here is your reservation,” or “Is this your first time here?” show how to communicate in a hotel or restaurant.
Politeness and customer service - important phrases such as “Very happy to”, “Thank you very much, have a nice day” and “I hope you have a pleasant stay” show how to speak kindly and respectfully.
This video is ideal for practicing vocabulary for everyday situations while improving your communication skills! 😊
This video covers the following grammatical topics that are important for German levels A1 and A2:
Questions with and without question words - For example, “Wie viel macht das?” or “Möchten Sie noch etwas?” show how to form yes/no questions and W-questions.
Personal pronouns in the nominative and accusative - “I take the laughing plate” shows how the accusative object is used after certain verbs.
Modal verbs (would like, can) - “Would you like something to drink?” shows a polite request, while “Can I help you?” expresses an ability or possibility.
Negation with “nicht” and “kein” - “Meine Frau isst kein Fleisch” shows how “kein” is used for nouns, while “Das reicht nicht” uses “nicht” to negate a sentence.
Word order in main and subordinate clauses - “I'll bring you the pot in a moment” shows the normal word order, while “because my wife is a vegetarian” demonstrates the final position of the verb in the subordinate clause.
