Helo formation flying. You're close enough when rotors overlap and you're using his dials as your references...your lead was really on your case.

You would be astonished what crap happened in my time in the German forces. Delivery of a box of cigars to a high ranking Officer? Perfectly reasonable... depending on the tension in the area of course. As well, they did a fantastic job at depicting the typical 80% boredom, 19% doing fine and 1% action of real life. Yes, the wait at the beginning is a tad bit long though realistic as well ("Hurry up, so we can wait longer" was a popular saying). Could have been used to brief a bit more on the situation, build some deeper connection to the current Operation. Overall I found it worthwhile to fly and the mood swing after the Outpost is incredibly convincing and made my heart sink.

As much as I love the Huey, I really wish DCS would hurry up and release a blackhawk module. The huey is a great helo, but it is getting up there in age... and tbh, it feels really weird flying ops in the middle east, as the US, in an old, Vietnam era huey...

To be fair a lot of Hueys have been involved in middle eastern wars from the 70s-present, but I do agree a UH-60 module would be wicked dope. I'm very excited for the Mi-24, fits right in to the Persian Gulf map

Haven't ridden in a Huey but I rode in a TC Special...a Hughes 500D in candy stripe. We didn't do anything drastic so there was hardly any sense of flight. It was TOO smooth. I think as far as the experience of flying goes...the Bell 47 is the most 'helicoptery' helicopter. You can really feel that you're hanging from the rotor. With no doors and the bubble...you're just out there hanging in the air on a bench. I flew around the Ozarks in one with an ex-MASH pilot many years ago. I asked him if he ever got to have any fun doing these tours all day. ( made a swoop motion with my hand) He said not officially...looked around, rolled my side down and dove into a canyon to our right, swooped through and back up. It could be dangerous. I said I understand. My first ride was in a rickety old something I can't even find a picture of. Pilot had his own seat in center. Right behind him was a bench for 3-4 people. Windshield was a bunch of square windows but rounded like the nose. I want to say it had wheels and not skids but it was long ago. That thing shook like a dog drying off.

You need to manually reset the master caution. Above the low rpm audio warning switch

Yeah I hit that when I was on the boat, went out, came back 30 seconds later. Tried again in flight, same thing. Just gave up after that.

@Southern Fun It was in the parts I edited out, I had to cut 50+ minutes of the mission out to shrink it down whit much. Still no idea what the trigger for it was bit nothing seemed to be malfunctioning so. . put it down as an annoying realism, she is an old bird after all and leave it at that. I mean I've flown them home with parts missing, having a stuck master caution is a minor issue. :)

"I'm in the pilot seat" yep, you are the "driver" and Peter is the Mission Commander and he told you to keep formation. 😁 Jaaa, he is annoying at times, but close means 1-5 rotor diameters, loosely at his 5 to 7 o'clock at 3-5 ft above... But yeah he did this to me too. 🤣

If the Huey had selectable ejection seats Peter would have got a flying lesson without the rest of the aircraft by the end of this mission. :)

Mags.....just FYI, from a former door gunner on a Huey, always make you active gunner the Right Door.....your the pilot......and if YOU get hit and go down at low ALT, EVERYONE dies......you made your LEFT gunner priority gunner at 44:00 in the video. If you ANTICIPATE any gunfire, angle your right rear quarter to enemy so the bird helps to protect your gunner and the rest of the crew......for example: enemy is at 6 o’clock, you face 1 o’clock. Your gunner has plenty shooting traverse and if you need to give cover to your crew hover at nose pitch down about 10 degrees to expose your belly and skids to the oncoming fire. Just giving you a US AIR CAV pointers. Also, NEVER land ON the bridge, land at the either entrance. O7

I know this, I didn't make any door gunner my preference, The mission chooses to exit the right hand door gunner on the bridge the same as flight lead orders you into a right hand orbit with the left gunner as primary coverage in the orbits. If I had got to choose yes the left gunner would have exited and I would have been in left hand orbits with the right hand gunner as primary. "Also, NEVER land ON the bridge, land at the either entrance" Again, read the text to the top right, my exact order was to land on the bridge so that's what I did, landing at the ends of the bridge won't trigger the next step in the mission.

I am 100% sure this relates to the depiction of the navy in Germany, not the United States Navy. We used to joke about the Bundeswehr being represented as a rowing boat. Army (Heer) is rowing, Navy (Marine) sits, commands more speed and steers, while the Air Force (Luftwaffe) is waterskiing and having fun. The Helicopters being operated by Army Aviation (Heeresflieger), it is common to depict the Navy (Marine) as a bunch of sea faring tourists sailing the seven seas and doing port visits... good old banter between different parts of the same army. 😁

To get rid of the Master Caution light, you have to flip the caution light test switch up instead of down. PS: Get closer!

If you have a master caution in the Huey you first need to look down at the middle center orange console lights (those display what the master caution is actually for) for example it could be because of low rpm during a wait at a airport. its just to remind you that your rpm is stationary and you can't take of safely because of this. All you have to do to get rid of this master caution is to increase the rpm (throttle, not colletive) and you will see that the orange caution light in down in the middle console goes out. hower the master caution light on the top will still remain, to clear this you have to use a switch somewhere on the center console. i hope this helps someone , greets from Belguim!

I’m no heli expert (much more a fixed-wing guy), but perhaps the Master Caution had something to do with the constant wobble and what looked to be thrust fluctuations. Perhaps something was destabilized while doing those hover jumps you mentioned? Also, #BlamePeter

Fun mission but I had to use your video to figure out where the UAZ were at and what to do. Turns out they never left the powerstation, stuck in the woods, luckily the self destruct so dint have to fly back and kill them :/ It's really stressful

I absolutely HATE "follow" missions, for the reasons you talked about. Getting 30 minutes into a mission, just to have it ended because of the lead's altitude, speed, and direction changes pisses me off. Just sayin'. Oh, and the master caution reset switch is just above the audio warning kill switch.
