Maha Mrityunjaya mantra, recited 108 times by Rushab Shah. Rushab is a gifted singer and is the great grandson of Mataji Andavan Pichai. He has received training in classical Carnatic classical music from his mother Vidushi Preeti Vinayak, a well known Bharatanatyam dancer and carnatic music vocalist (www.natyam.com) .
The piece begins with Rushab's soulful chant of the Panchakshari mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" to connect with the divine Mahashivaya and find inner peace. 'Na' represents Earth element, 'Ma' represents Water, 'Si' is associated with Fire, 'Va' represents Wind, and 'Ya' is associated with Sky.
Maha Mrityunjaya mantra in Sanskrit is from the Rig Veda, written by Sage Vasishtha and is one of the most powerful mantras. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Maha means great, Mrityu means death, and Jaya means victory. Lord Shiva represents the cycle life and death. Lord Shiva is the ultimate for strength and salvation. This mantra gives protection against illness, suffering and untimely death. Chanting this mantra relaxes the body, mind and soul, and wards off greed and jealousy, and promotes longevity of life.
