After going through the original version of Mahabharata by revered sage lord Ved Vyasa and translated by renowned poet Kashiram Dash in bengali, I have attained a deep knowledge about Shakuni. Believe me or not, they are over- glamourised in the television series. In the TV series ( starplus Mahabharata, suryaputra Karna etc), Shakuni is depicted as the cunning, intelligent and treacherous person whose understanding in politics and the game of dice is beyond imagination. He provokes his beloved Duryodhana against the Pandavas and conspires to poison Bheem, burn Yudhishthir in the house of lac along with his brothers and mother, giving a barren land to the pandavas during the partition, the infamous game of dice and many more. Because of this, Shakuni has gained the reputation of being the most intelligent and cunning person of the era who could challenge lord Shree Krishna. But in the original copy, Shakuni is not that much important character to mention. Vyasa decidedly ignored Shakuni during the whole childhood of kuru-pandavas, even Shakuni is mentioned to have returned to Gandhara after the marriage of his sister. Poisoning Bheem was planning and executed by Duryodhana himself, the Lakshagriha was planned mainly by Duryodhana and Dhritarashtra where Dusshasana, Karna and Shakuni helps. Yes. He actively participated in the gambling match with Yudhishthir but he won the match with his skills and not any miracles or magical dices. He did that to satisfy his nephew and avoid war. Shakuni's father and brothers arrived at the Rajasuya Yajna of Yudhishthir at Indraprastha and in the great kurukshetra war, Shakuni's brothers were brutally killed. According to me, Duryodhana was a great politician than Shakuni as he was the master mind behind the most of the conspiracies and he made his father agreed for the dice match. In the Mahabharata, Duryodhana is imagined as an evil tree, trunk of which is Karna and Shakuni is its branches, Dusshasana is its fruit and Dhritarashtra is the root of the tree. So clearly, Vyasa tells us that Karna was more unrighteous and influential on Duryodhana rather than Shakuni

But i still listen everything and everything podcast and interview of akshat gupta sir, he’s voice is a voice of a storyteller and pandit ji is one of my favorite because i feel very positive after watching his videos. Portraying Karna as a hero is a gross misrepresentation of his character. In the Mahabharata written by Ved Vyas, Karna's persona is depicted in a more nuanced manner. His involvement in devious schemes, association with Duryodhana, and his role in the disrobing of Draupadi paint a less flattering picture. There are two widely circulated stories that are not supported by the original Mahabharata text: 1) The tale of Arjuna's chariot miraculously moving three inches away when Karna fired arrows at it lacks substantiation in Ved Vyas' Mahabharata.
