Where ever we Bengali are in the world , whether India, Russia, USA , Europe, Africa or Japan , anywhere in the World ,we have to listen this evergreen wonder of creation. It is something beyond the Time. What an outstanding creation of the combination of different aspects -Melodies, Songs, Words, Culture. It will continue from one generation to another. Without Mahisasuramardini the Durga Puja Festival is incomplete.

This is actually the official music of Durga Puja. We wait for the whole year to listen to the crescendo of "Ya Chandi" at 4 AM in the Mahalaya morning. The songs "Jaago Durga", "Tabo Achintya", "Bajlo tomar aalor benu", the Sanskrit one "Aham Rudrebhirvasubhischara" and many more, all written by Banikumar and composed by Pankaj Kumar Mallik are immortal creations. This '90 minutes of bliss' will remain until Bengalis exist..

Durga Puja starts with the Mahishasurmardini. For us it is the beginning of Durga Puja. Without it we feel something is missing. We get our radios tuned up and repaired one month before the programme. This year I bought a new radio for listening Mahishasurmardini. My old tape recorder cum radio has gone out of order and is beyond repair.

No one has answer why we love it the most because when Birendra krishna bhadra chants shlokas and describes it ,it comes out of his heart and for that time God himself gives him that responsibility of describing our Mother's divinity and then he sees her as his own Mother and we also feel it. NOTHING JUST GOOSEFLESH, A RUSH OF EMOTIONS AND LOVE FOR THE DEITY. The feeling is to the extent where it feels this life is lived only for this to happen every year. Oh, for the longing! Everytime I listen to this Chant, I cannot help but tear up. Everytime this plays, the atmosphere around changes in a flash. Feels like the Mother is around. Right beside me. In front of me. I used watch this in TV (along with the drama showing the whole Mahisasur vs Maa Durga fight scene) when my grandmother was still alive in Zee Bangla and Star Jalsha. I was in 4th grade back than and after her demise I watched it only on 2022. I will watch it this year on Jio TV (Since our TV is broken since 2017 and not repaired yet).
