When Ahmed Shah Abdali was defeated in the war with Grandfather of Maharaja Ranjit Singh - Sardar Charat Singh, he ran back to Afghanistan bare feet and said to Sardar Charat Singh that my grandchildren will come back to take revenge and then Sardar Charat Singh replied that “We will wait for them, our grandchildren will be prepared for them with swords not with bangles in their hands.” Time passed and Ranjit Singh became the ruler or Shukarchakia Misl. One day he got a news that Shah Zamaan is being cruel to the people of Lahore, He went to Lahore with his Army and challenged Shah Zamaan in front of Samann Burj by saying “Get yourself out grandson of Ahmed Shah Abdali, Charat Singh’s Grandson is challenging you for the battle.” But Shah Zamaan was so afraid that he didn’t show himself up and ran away by leaving the Lahore behind. Then people of Lahore requested him to sit on the Lahore throne. So, if he got Lahore as a gift, then he got it from the people of Lahore not from Shah Zamaan. One more thing, you’re in an honourable profession and millions of people watch your videos, please have some dignity towards the history and the role models present in it because they are there for a reason. Capture of Lahore • Ranjit Singh entered Lahore with minimal resistance. The Bhangi chiefs either fled or surrendered, unable to match his military strength and popularity among the people. • His entry was marked by support from the local populace, who welcomed him as their new leader. 5. Consolidation of Power • After taking control, Ranjit Singh established order, reorganized the administration, and won the loyalty of the people. • He declared himself the ruler of Lahore and later crowned himself the Maharaja of the Sikh Empire in 1801. Ranjit Singh’s conquest of Lahore was significant because it marked the beginning of a unified Sikh Empire, with Lahore as its capital. I'm sorry, but a great teacher like you, who teaches for UPSC, lacks A LOT of historical knowledge about Punjab and Sikhs. I can counter multiple things you said from every minute of this video. Please stop reading history from NCERT, Wikipedia, etc. Read it from REAL HISTORY BOOKS like '"Pracheen Panth Prakash" by poet Ratan Singh Ji Bhangu and "Gurpartap Suraj Granth" by poet Santokh Singh. There are many more, but one can start with these. If you need help understanding them, please feel free to refer to their 'Kathas' or simplified versions.
