Chittorgarh Fort, also known as Chittor, holds a respected place in Indian history and is a testimony to the glorious Rajputana heritage. Spread over 700 acres, this massive fort complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and stands proudly atop a hill overlooking the city of Chittorgarh.
As we enter the massive gates of the fort, we are taken back to the era of brave warriors and epic battles. The architecture of the fort is a stunning amalgam of Rajput styles, comprising imposing towers, magnificent palaces, intricately carved temples and spacious courtyards. The sheer grandeur and attention to detail is truly awe-inspiring.
One of the most iconic structures within the fort is the Vijay Stambh, or Victory Tower. This grand tower, more than 100 feet high, was built by Maharana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over the Sultan of Malwa. Its intricate carvings and balconies offer a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire fort and the surrounding landscape.
