SYNOPSIS:- Traditionally or rather popularly ‘Mahashivratri’ is celebrated as the wedding night of Shiva and Parvati. In Hindu religion, this night is also celebrated as the night when ‘Shiva’ (nothingness) met ‘Shakti’ (energy or movement) symbolising Shiva’s divine dance of creation which resulted in the making of this whole existence! Whereas in Yogic culture, it is considered to be the most powerful night in a year. This is the night of limitless possibilities for the Human race as the earth’s energy is moving in the upward direction. So spiritually this night is the best night for any seeker on this planet. So keeping awake whole night is extremely beneficial and thus a night long celebration till the break of the dawn became a part of Indian spiritual culture.
MEANING:- The night of the divine union has arrived and our hearts sing the songs of their eternal love. Shakti has now officially become Shiva’s and we onlookers stand in awe. Let’s decorate the Mandapam and sing sacred hymns! And let’s be a witness to this most beautiful night of creation, Mahashivratri!
The clouds of ‘Grace’ is descending on us. May this night never come to an end. A string of energy is attached from the earth up till the sky. This is the night of infinite possibilities. Mahadeva, each and every speck is decorated by you. O’ Creator of this universe, Shiva! It’s all your magic. Hatha Yogi, Adiyogi, Mahayogi, You are a Complete Yogi! You are the beginning-less and you are the only end. We bow down tonight, with our hearts filled with gratitude, Shambho! Shambho! Shambho!
The Bhojpuri part of the song, sung in the female voice, depicts the traditional culture of ‘Bidaai’ in India where the bride leaves her parent’s house forever on the night of her wedding. Here Parvati, the bride, says how she is going to miss the rays of the sun in her courtyard, the shadow of her favourite mango tree, the sweet voice of the cuckoo and that swing she played on everyday. She will never forget her father’s love and the unbearable pain of separation from her mother!
