Sir, Most vastu consultants avoid the topic of southern hemisphere in detail - Sir, could you please direct me where details are provided - why north east in vastu shastra was considered spiritual? what was the reason? Based on this reason only we can decide if in southern hemisphere it should change or not!!!!

Basis of vastu is the rythms of the sun which is the primary energy source for everything in our solar system. Due to the rotation of the earth, the sun rises everywhere in East, no matter where you are. this means the Night is in North the Morning is in East, and the Sunrise is in NE. The awakening is symbol for spiritual, enlightenment means light to the mind. Light comes from NE, so this is the spiritual Eeshan Corner. Also According to the 5 Elements, NE is Water, the source, so it is the source of wealth and knowledge. Having a Well (Fresh Water Fountain) in NE is auspicious. Still according your location on the world globe you have a different times and angles where the sun is rising and standing. Which means you have to adjust the amplitudes of vastu according to your local environment. means in Norhern Countries like Europe you can have bigger Windows as its genereally Cooler, and in Southern Countries you have smaller Windows in South, to protect against the too strong sun during the day. but the directions will be same on the whole world. which means vastu is not only for india, but works globally. also a big goal of vastu is to equalize the climate in a house. so you open the north which is too cold, and you close the south which is too hot. to get average climate in the whole building. in Northern Countries often the mistake is done to open the south and close the north, which is wrong according to vastu as then the south gets too hot and and the north gets to cold. and people complain that north is to dark and dont like it. and the loved balcony in south suddenly gets to hot and needs umbrellas to even be usable. if you understand the path of the sun during the 24h cycle and adopt for the season you can explain a lot of vastu with logic.

@@myfarmland8148 that's fascinating. I had to Google it but your fact is true. Beyond the equator the path of sun appears to go to the other direction. Which means if you see vastu as guideline for architecture and interpret physics laws in a nice hindu story then the vastu mandala in Australia maybe should be flipped. So that that the kitchen is in that direction where the sun is in the morning hours. To match the fire element. Which is the most obvious. Then you would open the cool south and close the hot north. And as a result prefer to have entrance in south because you block the north will walls and heavy things. Vastu probably fits best to the Indian subcontinent where 90% of examples and books apply. But if you are in other locations the rules have to be interpreted individually. For me 100% of vastu can be explained by understanding the path of the sun during the day, so I would adopt the Interpretation for Australia. Also there are some odd rules like toilet in SSW while SW is earth and should be closed and suddenly there is a outlet there. I think it's a modern Interpretation because people like to have a toilet near the bedroom. In classic vastu texts toilet was not inside the house but outside, but nearly nobody plans houses this way in modern times. Also now we have electricity and can manipulate the elements like light in the night and heating and cooling whenever we want and live against the influence of the sun. But even if it is possible applying Vastu in plans it's more in sync with nature and the elements and more efficient. The idea of vastu is to connect more with the natural rhythms and benefit by going with the flow.

@@myfarmland8148 jaivic means magnetic. The magnetic North pole is still in north. And a compass still points north. So the recommendation to sleep with head in south should still be valid. Your blood contains iron on blood cells. So sleeping position should be with magnet fields or else blood pressure in the head gets more if you sleep with head on north. This would make for a funny layout because you would put heavy things towards the hot north walls but keep head in south Means in the middle of the room which is against Feng shui which advises to have head near wall for maximum protection and no enemies attacking from your back. But this is speculation, you should als a old and wise vastu consultant what is true in Australia. But I guess 99% of vastu is done only inside India and not popular in other countries so not many people can answer this. Thinking deeper blood is iron and not a magnet but reacts to magnetic fields. So it will get magnetized and then attracted. But now in southern hemisphere you are closer to the south pole and south magnet so then the directions are probably reversed. Eg. South magnet will pull blood. In that logic sleeping with head in north would be best to pull blood into feet and not overdo the head. Then all is back in harmony and Feng shui also makes sense which normally is in harmony with vastu. But Feng shui is more the flow of movement way of the wind (vatha) while vastu (space) is more influenced by energy and sun (agni). One can use Feng shui to fine tune the flow after arranging directions with vastu. Small comment to sleeping direction, is is obvious that heart pumps blood up against gravity from feet towards head. And is in balance. If you do a headstand for long time it gives dizzyness and headache. Sleeping with head toward north in northern hemisphere and sleeping with head toward south in southern hemisphere will be similar effect like doing a headstand which is not beneficial for restful sleep. But the question is of the hemoglobin (iron) on blood really interacts do much with earth magnet field and the attraction happens. But it is still true to sleep with head toward heavy side like S, SW, W and be prepared for attacks from north (opposite) even without sun the bed is placed furthest away from the entry which gives you more reaction time. Subconsciously one Will feel saver and sleep deeper (at least that is theory of Feng shui).
