Jerry Goodman solo....WOW!!! I saw them in Quebec City must be in the 70's. They arrive on scene and waited. They had a nice carpet in front. , John was dressed in white as well. They waited a little ....until a total silence , then they started to play. I remeber I just stare at them and how incredible players they were.

Thanks for sharing this. So wonderful to see them when they were at the height of their powers. Caught them in August 73 in Central Park as they were starting to come apart and while it was a wonderful concert you look back at the joy on all of their faces and 72 and then listen to between nothingness & eternity, remembering the show in the park was that was from and you could see they were a band about to break apart

More than 40 years ago I was returning from a bike ride around Chicago with my cousin Neil. We pulled up to his apartment in Evanston and I heard someone absolutely killing it on some very complex piano piece upstairs. I turned to Neil and said "who the fuck is that?" He said, "It's some musician named Jerry Goodman." I knew Mahavishnu Orchestra. We got stoned on the porch and listened to him practice for the next hour. I never met him but I feel like I know him.

Why did Jan Hammer take the top of off the Fender Rhodes?
@juanespinosa12597 жыл бұрын
It changes the pickup level of your playing. I have a 1974 88-keys Fender Rhodes and I know what I'm talking about. Chick Corea used to do this. It reduces the decay on the tiles. That way you can play very quick notes. On the Fender Rhodes when you depress a note it gets muted. Without the top on you don't have residual vibration and you can play really fast notes without decay. Unfortunately I'm not able to do this as my Minimoog, Oberheim SEM and my TR-909 stand on top of my Rhodes. With the top on.

Physical contact between the tines and the case, or the enclosed space damping via reflections (like a plate reverb)?
