I love Bill 99% of times. The 1% I don't agree with him is his constant support for Israel but I understand why he's doing that. Do you think one of the reasons that his view is more popular in the US and not in many other countries is because there are proportionally more Jews in the US compared to other countries? Did you think that maybe the solution here is not morally obvious, but that other countries just are more likely to side with Palestine not because of any strong moral argument but because they have a lot of muslims living there?? In 1948 instead of emulating the Jews and declare a country they declared war. When they failed to defeat the Jews (Nakba) they were happy being Egyptians in Gaza and Jordanians in the W.Bank. So I’m not sure why you want to start the clock there because it doesn’t really help your case. Or why not go further back? How about the 1929 Arab Riots? Or maybe further back to the original division of the British Mandate for Palestine which was in 1922. Is that far enough back? That was when they divided off a huge portion of the mandate (what was then called Trans Jordan) for the Arabs living in the land & they gave it to a foreigner from the Arabian peninsula - the Hashemite family - to be monarch over. That’s now called Jordan btw. We can go even further back, how about we start at the Muslim conquest of the Levant in the 7th Century? Or let’s go even further back to the event depicted on the Arch of Titus in Rome. A massive stone monument that’s been there for ~2,000 years which celebrates and depicts the foreign European colonialists of the Roman army conquering the indigenous Jewish population of the land & carting the vast majority of them off into slavery & exile throughout the Roman Empire. That was roughly also when the Romans renamed the Kingdom of Judea to “Syria Palestina” & renamed the settlement built on top of the ruins of the destroyed Jewish capital city of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina & forbade Jews entrance to the new settlement. Is that far enough back for you? This is all easily verifiable history for anyone who cares to look at facts instead of fantasies & BS being spewed by random people on the internet. I'd wondered about their alternatives when reading the 1991 Tom Clancy novel, _The Sum of All Fears._ The Palestinian demonstrators do a peaceful protest like the Civil Rights marches in the U.S. and a police captain after ordering the use of tear gas and firing of rubber bullets, shoots the demonstrator's leader in the head, similar to the real life police chief in South Vietnam shooting a handcuffed prisoner in the head. As a result the U.S. forces the parties to the bargaining table to solve the Jerusalem issue and others. Lately some people have been saying that Palestinian nonviolent resistance, peaceful protest and civil disobedience in the past were met with violence. And that Israel doesn't want moderates to negotiate with so have been encouraging violent extremists, thus destroying the PLO and having them replaced by Hamas.

Always loved Henry Winkler since I was a kid. Seems like a genuine person I’d love to meet one day. As a Palestinian Christian 1st generation American stemming from the last all Christian village in the West Bank with family land there since 1568AD, I appreciate the humanistic approach to his compassion and understanding to this sensitive topic.
