You got lucky! Sometimes, luck is all you need. We got 1 Mahi in 2 days on a panga, then 5 in one day on the bigger boat, with a good captain. I’ve been finding the more experienced guys are typically on the nice’r boats. But that’s awesome you did so well!

Great video and info - really helpful! Head there in November 2023…. How much meat are you bringing back with you per charter? Trying to dial in how many coolers to bring for airport travel…. Thanks!

I don’t typically bring back a ton of fish myself. But if you plan on going out a couple times, you could for sure buy a cooler at the Walmart varying on the amount of fish you catch. It’s doubtful you’ll exceed the 50lb limit for a checked bag.

Did the second boat put ice or water in the box with your dorado? It’s a pet peeve of mine when guides or charters or even a friend put my fish in a hot box for the rest of the day. Just wondering how they do it down there? ?
@zakattack467 Жыл бұрын
Never mind I saw the block of ice

Yes, they usually get ice same time they buy the bait from those small bait boats right as you leave the marina. At least in Cabo they do that.

You were able to bring your fish back home with you? To the U.S.? If so, any issues?
@SilhouetteOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Oh ya! No issues. I just put it in my hard case carry on bag and wrapped it up with my insulated rain jacket. None of the fish was ever thawed out, even after traveling all day. They will open it up at customs to check it. I’ve done that 3 times now traveling to Mexico. No problemás!

Hey Kevin, prices have changed a bit since I made this video 4 years ago. But it’s a flat fee for the boat and up to 4 passengers. A half day charter is $590 currently. But that’s pretty cheap if you have 3 buddies to split up it up with. If you are interested I can 100% hook you up with a great charter in Cabo! I book charters here weekly with a ton of success! So what do you recommend? My family and I are going to Cabo in June and I love fishing but never fished off shore only inland for reds ,trout, and flounder here in Texas and Louisiana. We plan on booking a charter but really want to catch some fish and not pay for a boat ride.
@SilhouetteOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
June is a good time to go after Roosterfish and big jack Crevalle down there. Marlin and Mahi are always around, but that’s not the peak month for it. Mostly inshore fishing, which is a blast! There’s also a good chance of catching snapper and sierra’s. Definitely do not get a cheap panga boat trip, as you will likely be disappointed. Hit up my buddy Chris Tellez, he has great captains at his disposal, different size boats for what ever you need and price. I have yet to hear of anyone getting skunked on his charters. All his contact info is in the video description, he can take care of you. We’ll be using him again this July when we go as well.

I've always had an amazing time on the Pangas it depends on your panguero and the relationship you have built with them. I've been fishing with the same guy for 15 years. Never once have I been disappointed things that are very cheap for us are not cheap in cabo branded board shorts, for instance, like hurley oneill volcom etc or fishing shorts pelagic aftco we can get on sale for as low as 10 bucks down in cabo the cheapest you'll find a pair of those shorts for is 90$ USD a lot of those guys will be willing to make trades ive traded board shorts and other necessities that the pangueros have let me know they need for fishing trips I haven't paid for a trip in I don't remember how long just build a relationship theyre good people they will take care of you if you take care of them

Cabo has a wide verity of boats of all sizes and type of and quality of gear and service. Do your homework and seek out the better boats and crew. To many subpar boats with minimal gear that are geared more for the non fishing tourist who would not know what quality gear would even look like. If your a discerning angler who fishes back home them it pays to research it well so you don;t end up disappointing yourself and your guests.

It’s who we used on this charter and killed it! Very good prices as well! You can DM him on Instagram at instagram.com/chris_cabo?igshid=eiwpd1rgbro2 I highly recommend that if you go, which ever charter you choose, go for a minimum of 8hrs. You’ll do much better than on a half day charter. I learned the hard way.

In all honesty I call BULLSHIT on this video lol I run my own charter in Canada and your ntion bigger is better when it comes to boat charters is crapola. Ive booked so many 32 plus footers out of Cabo it would make your head spin. THATS the first mistake. Go to San Jose Del Cabo instead Cabo San Lucas. You will get boats at half the price. As for size...do you think the fish care? NOPE. Its about the Captain and his knowledge of the Sea Of Cortez and Pacific. A Panga is fine. I have video uploaded of Marlin and Dorado Ive caught there. Angeles GK Fleet with Capt Carlos is highest on Trip Advisor and highest in my opinion as well.
@SilhouetteOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Well I call bullshit on your take. Take the same captain and put him in a bigger boat with MORE lines and baits in the water and I 100% guarantee you catch more fish. You can see more fish. And in my many trips to Cabo, the guys in small pangas are in those small boats because they are not great captains. Many are new to it. Hence the reason they’re still in a small boat. I have yet to kill it on a small panga in Cabo, but have never been skunked on a big boat. Not many companies are going to put un-skilled captains in a nice boat. You’re entitled to your opinion. But if I’m on my only trip ever to Cabo and have no idea who to go with, you likely get what you pay for.
