Why didn’t you just shove it up with the grapple then pick it up and carry away. I have did this with a lot bigger stuff
@terrymangum3914

Hank, a little Monday morning quarterbacking. Since you had the post hole augers on the back you could have drilled some holes around it to break up the roots. Then it should have pulled out. The grapple did the job though. That Azalea bush was the biggest Azalea I have ever seen. Enjoyed watching to get it out of the ground.

Great video, question I have a 55hp tym with a backhoe, and a grapple. I have hundreds of stumps ranging from 2-10" that stick up 4-8". (Previous property owner had fire mitigation done, some are 3 years old some are 20yrs old) I'm at 7,500' in Colorado. What would you suggest? Renting a home depot stump grinder? Sawing them flush and abandoning them? Buy a stump bucket? Grab on with my cable choker and hope? Love the videos!

I’d definitely rent the stump grinder (if you’re tractor is HST)

Never pull from the front of tractor strap could break or slip off and come flying back at you and worse case it could damage your hydraulic cylinders. Always think before acting it could be very costly.

You've got a brush grapple, grab what you can and pull it off. I much prefer chain for pulling anything out with tractor, they bite better and they don't get bound up like straps. As long as you are using a strong enough chain, it won't fail.

Very glad you are enjoying the 4540, we have great sales and satisfaction out of them. Just a tip, always idle all the way down before shutting down the tractor. The common rail does not appreciate being stopped at high pressure and you can blow the rail(also not covered under warranty.) Several thousand $$ for rail and lines. I go over those type things will all customer upon delivery.
@HamiltonvilleFarm
@HamiltonvilleFarm 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah we do that for the end of the work day. We let it idle up at the beginning of the work day and then we shut it down in accordance with the sticker below the steering wheel. Always good to follow instructions 👍

young man , before u wrap chain around brush just look at brush first think best way to do this ! . u can do either way loader bucket or grapple or box blade teeth in the ground / dig beside this brush all the way around until u can get good hold to this brush with your chain wrap around twice ! . after u got brush out , next to shake dirt out before u haul to brush pile , okay !

19,300 LBS? How can a FEL pick up that much weight if it the pin breakout force is around 3,000? Your grapple has to weigh at least 500 LBS. And the closest root ball edge could be to the center pin line would be around 1 ft then extend out from there. That leverage decreases your lift capacity greatly.

Good Vid. I have that same grapple so it was nice to see what it can do. Just curious, I wonder if you could have cut the tops down a little lower and then went over it with the box blade with the ripper shanks all the way down as far as you can go. Maybe cut around it first to break up some of the root structure, then trying the main stumps. Just curious.
