Yes! I recently played the chorale from Brahms 1 in Prague. The contra had that silky smooth bass which was fantastic under the trombone parts.

I used to be young and in the orchestra, until last fall. I sold my fabulous Alexander rose brass horn to some kid in Edmonton January first of this year. Now I'm old, have no horn which I traded off for a pocket trumpet just to have something to play. Play all you can because retirement is closer then you think. I never thought I would give up my precious horn but here I am. You guys sound great keep up the good work. Whomever gave you the thumbs down really has no clue.

That is a very subjective statement. The brass section by the Berliner Philarmoniker are excellent. Tarkovi is one of the best 1st trumpeters in the world. The brass from the Concertgebow Orchestra are also great, etc. At this level, any comparison is out of place. It's all about personal taste.
