This vs Ek43/s for bringing out the best of the beans texture + flavors would you say Ek43 line is still better or is this superior or just a bit better? I do not know how to explain what I am asking for, hope you get what I mean :D
@JonoEastGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, it’s a tricky question. Kinda depends on if you like espresso from Unimodal or High Uniformity burr sets. Each have their benefits. But both so different things. I’m finding a little more texture out of the GBW but the clarity and perception of flavour is greater from an EK43.

Great video! Have you tried this with a larger portafilter like the Cafelat Robot? Wondering if this works at all.

Are you saying that if you use a bottomless PF you cannot use the GBW function? (presumably because the PF then has to be held manually, making the scale not function)
@JonoEastGuitar7 ай бұрын
You would have to adjust the cradle is all. Because of the shape of the handle

Is it better then the Ceado E37S? The Ceado is very very quiet, but is the GBW function enough to trump it even with the smaller burrs? Great vid, cheers.
@JP-vz2qn3 жыл бұрын
Wondering the same. The Ceado 37s has a distribution issue requiring WDT for even extraction. How does the updated E65S GBW compare? Does it resolve issues people complain about the non-GBW like higher retention and adjustment loose?
@JonoEastGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I haven’t tried the E37s. What I can say is the noise level is a non issue. Especially in a cafe. In my lab (bricks and concrete) it’s noticeable, but not in a commercial environment. The accuracy of this grinder is enough to trump IMO. Just to be clear I own this grinder outright. Not paid to say any of this. Thank you for the comment friend.

In terms of retention. It’s crazy good. Let’s say, you are in a mad rush and need to make a small grind adjustment; you can make the adjustment and within 2 shots get to where you need to be. The best part is you’ll be getting your desired weight whilst that grind change coming through. That’s the beauty of this design in my opinion.

@@JonoEastGuitar, cheers mate, appreciate the feedback, yeh this and the Ceado have made my short list. I'm looking for a new grinder at home, the GBW really has my attention, but having trouble walking away from alot of peoples reviews of the Ceado with its impressive 83mm burrs and quiet motor operation. The Mahlkonigs main feature that may likely win me over is the GBW function for improved workflow and consistency. Do you hear the noise of the motor much, or is it mainly the grinding sound?
@JP-vz2qn3 жыл бұрын
@@gettin-sendy from a sound perspective I don’t think you will have an issue. The ceado’s problem is the extraction. You have to WDT with a tooth pick or similar whisking tool to get an even extraction. Otherwise it channels quiet a bit. If your in the GBW price range, then look at the e37T. From the titanium burrs and active cooling it’s on par with E65S GBW but with the larger burrs. I’m still on the fence between the two. Trying to figure out if larger burrs are really going to make that difference for me or not. But the T version apparently fixes the distribution issues.

How consistent is the output with the GBW function? I'm thinking about pre-ordering this grinder, but I'm wondering if it'd be better to go with the e80. I'm also super interested if it's easier to dial in because you are only needing to adjust one variable (grind) instead of also compensating for the dose size by adjusting time.
@tuckspoff3 жыл бұрын
Also wondering about how repeatable a recipe is if you use the DDD (disc distance). Say if you switch beans and dial in for those, can you use the previous DDD setting and go back to the previous beans with good results, or do you find you need to manually dial in again?
@JonoEastGuitar3 жыл бұрын
In time, the E80 will have this GBW tech implemented on it. I love the E80 and honestly, the best spro’s I’ve had have come from an E80. However, if convenience important, the repeatability on this grinder is second to none. No matter where you change the grind to, you’ll get your desired weight.
@JonoEastGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Disc distance is an interesting one. In my opinion as a roaster, 1 day difference in age of coffee could result in a different disc distance, so if anything, it’s a starting point. Not a rule to go by.

@@JonoEastGuitar How significant is the difference in taste between the E65s GBW and the E80? I'm currently torn between the E80 and the Mythos 2, but there's something about the E65s GBW that I really like! All very different I know, but that's where I'm torn.

Hi, my kids use corn starch as a medicine, i need a machine like this to calculate corn starch weight. Do you think it would be possible for this use? Tks
@georgepirpiris73093 жыл бұрын
Totally your kids will love this! Make sure to pair it with a good E61 machine. If not, any 15$ scale on Amazon should do the trick. This machine is for coffee only.

Great video Jono, thank you! How about volume? Can these E65S GBW's can handle little bit of volume? Say 7-8 kilos a shift, without compromising on consistency? Thanks in advance
@JonoEastGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Huss. I would absolutely back this grinder for high volumes. One thing, as with all grinders, the higher the volume, the more you need to keep up with cleaning and that kind of thing. Anyway, would back it. Ideal set up for me would be 2 of them. One for blend and one for black/single offerings.

If it knows which portafilter is placed. Can you preset grind weight programs for different portafilters and the machine will automatically grind a specific weight for each when detected?
@JonoEastGuitar2 жыл бұрын
No. You would have to change the weight out setting which as simple as a twist of the knob on the screen. That is a sweet idea though.
@NameNaameNameeNaamee2 жыл бұрын
@@JonoEastGuitar Actually, it will do exactly that, if you leave the grinder in the portafilter detection mode. That's what it's there for ;)

Your video was educational. I've been trying to look for a educational KZbin vid that really breaks down the topics in this KZbin video! 👨⚕️ 🧑⚕️Your vid actually is similar to the channel from Dr Ethan. His tips are actually helpful and I actually learned a lot for midterms. He is an insightful Dr on KZbin and he talks about diseases and vaccines! I recommend you watch his KZbin out and give the Dr a like! ➡️ #DrEthanOnKZbin
