Mahodand Lake | Most Beautiful Lake In Swat

Mahodand Lake is a lake located in the upper Usho Valley at a distance of about 40 km from Kalam, Swat Valley. Mahodand is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 2.865m (9,400ft) above the sea level, located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The lake, also known as Mahudand, lies at the foothills of Hindu kush mountains.
The road to the lake is gravel. It’s tricky and bumpy. It’s called Saifullah Lake Road. It’s 24.0 km long from Matiltan. Drive with care as this is a mountain road with hairpin curves and dangerous dropoffs. It’s pretty narrow. The lake is only accessible during the summer season but access during winter is limited. It’s covered by heavy snow. High risk of avalanches. Expect snow even in summer.
Mahodand Lake literally means the Lake of Fishes. It is accessible by a four-wheel drive vehicle and is often utilised for fishing and boating.

authorities must educate both visiting tourists and local community to respect each other. I observed in video that local kids were chasing tourists jeep to get some money. I guess these kids were collecting scrap (plastic bottles and tins), authorities should develop the area and these kids can get job rather than begging money from tourists. This money begging scenario has become a part of every tourist destination and that adds negativity to trip. I'm not harsh, but as i'm the one with a master degree in Tourism and Hospitality, i'm highlighting key issues for any tourist destination. Worst thing is that local authorities aren't interested in educating community and tourists and the fact is that people in tourism department are either uneducated with no vision or they are hired by giving bribe. I applied for a tourist officer post, but was asked to pay 1 million for that post. After working in restaurants in Lahore, i left the field in pandemic and now i'm working as a Full Stack Developer in a software house.
