This song makes me realise how much I miss my mother, it's strange how it feels like she's been gone for a very long time now while she passed away only 3 months ago. What I love about this song is that I feel like it perfectly describes some of the things that she might have been feeling and thinking about during her last days which she never could or more like didn't want to tell us about. It seems like this song speaks her unspoken words.

This songs makes me think of my dad who passed November 13 2014. It reminds me that he is here with me. It's like he is talking to me telling me he is here. :) So sorry for your loss. It's so empty to lose one of your parents. love and prayers to you.

I saw her live and she explained the reason for it. I can't remember exactly what it was, but she had asked some one/ a few people for ideas for a name, and someone suggested 'marshmallow unicorn' so yes, it probably has nothing to do with the song haha, as I said can't remember exactly but its along those lines. Its a beautiful song either way :)

Rachel clearly states at gigs that she only named it 'Marshmallow Unicorn' due to a drunk man at an Open Mic coming up with the name. The words 'cheap' and 'Tacky' should not be used in conjunction with her. I have found her to be one of the nicest people I have ever met and also one of the best musicians, too... she is not full of herself like many musicians are, she is just pure brilliance.

Her music is so incredibly wonderful.. I was lucky enough to see her live last year..she's such a nice and friendly person.. I wish her all the best on her way and hope she will get all the succes she deserves! I hope you don't see this as spam, but I just think that good music needs to be shared.. I found a band called "Where stories are written" If you've got time, listen to his song "The silence after the storm". It's such a heartwarming piece of music by this young guy...Definitely worth a listen! :)

Mh, sorry, I just want to make myself clear, there was no offense included in my previous comment. I find it kinda common, that musicians who look at music more of an art than anything, and as a way of really deep self-expression, give 'strange' names to their songs, which hardly have any meaning to us. Expect if we really go after the topic, interviews, etc. That's just my opinion of course.

It's the title of the song. It is not the song itself. Marshmallow Unicorn does indeed sound like something a 14 yearold would write, but that doesn't detract from the song. It just stands in contrast to the actual song. But I'm sorry, it doesn't make the song what it is. You just happen to like it a lot.

Maybe, more possibly, it has a meaning for her. Judging by the emotionality of her music, it must be logical that she makes the music mainly for herself, because she IS music, and music IS her. So It has a meaning for her. I don't really think that this is the place where you will find specimens of this "poser indie tryingtobe" stuffs, nor listening ears to theories of it.
