It's easier for me that way, I can't bring myself to love him even though I want to. The word love is overused by people who don't know its dangerous definition. It can make us feel so many emotions when it wasn't even meant for us. You convince yourself that this is the person you want to spend your life with until they turn their back on you. We only started dating a little while ago, but it feels so very wrong. It isn't him, it's me. It's me because I cannot feel anything except sadness yet he chose to be with me. As said in the lyrics "You're my all and more, but I need room to breath". I just have to endure it until I can no longer hold it in.

That's very interesting. I think I read somewhere that Breathe was actually about dealing with the recognization that the relationship is over. So, you are actually suppose to hear "you're my all and more" while going through heartache. Perception is such a weird thing.

I've never felt so identified or represented with a track. I just wanna say thank you Lauv for this song which is pushing me to give my best version to the world. It's sad when you had everything with a person, when you believed in that relationship, when you though "we are the best couple ever", but all gone to the shit. In that moment you learn how love and life works: you gotta break up because it's the best option to both. Relationship turned in a toxic thing and that's not healthy to nobody. You lived and learned a lot of things with that person, but now it's time to walk alone. Go ahead, never go back. Go up, never give up. Remember: you can do whatever you want for yourself. You're the most important person in the world. Thanks for so much, Lauv.

I was lucky enough to see him play this live in London this year because this song was the song that.. well.. the girl that ill never stop loving used this song to tell me that she still loves me and wanted to be together again.. after she broke up with me after almost a year.. even though she still left a while after, its been almost 2 years now that she left me but im still in love with her.. and this song reminds me of that moment that she told me that she loved me and its something that ill never forget.. i've still never met her.. and i don't think i ever will be lucky enough to... i guess thats my blue note..

[Verse 1] I've watched those eyes light up with a smile River in the not good times Oh, you taught me all that I know I've seen your soul grow just like a rose Made it through all of those thorns Girl into the woman I know [Pre-Chorus] And it's killing me, me to say "I'm fine," "I'm fine" When I really mean, mean to say... [Chorus] You're my all and more All I know you taught me, yeah You're my all and more But I need room to breathe, yeah [Verse 2] I found New York laying in your arms We'll melt into the bedroom floor Never knew I'd stay for so long And this truth cuts not through one, but both Not through one, but both of us But it's deeper if I hold on [Pre-Chorus] And it's killing me, me to say "I'm fine," "I'm fine" When I really mean, mean to say... [Chorus] You're my all and more All I know you taught me, yeah You're my all and more But I need room to breathe, yeah [Bridge] Gotta breathe for me, it's now or never Gotta breathe for me, it's now or never I should leave, 'cause you deserve better, better Gave my all and more But I need room to be me [Chorus] You're my all and more All I know you taught me, yeah You're my all and more But I need room to breathe, yeah

This song is powerful both stripped and with all of the strong musical sounds backing it. This version brings tears to my eyes much faster though because the emotion is raw and exposed and it felt like it was really laying into me. I struggled not to start bawling because it was so sad and so beautiful. I love this song. I love this song very much. It speaks to me and really penetrates the numbness that mental illness has really created in me. For months, no music was able to connect with me- and then I found Lauv’s music- and it is the first music in months- years- that has really made me feel something so strongly. Lauv has made songs that have made me cry, and he has also made songs that have made me sway and slow dance by myself in my kitchen. I love his music. I love the way it makes me feel something. I’m glad this version exists.

WOW this is an absolutely breathtaking song. Never heard it until now. This is perfection. Honestly words cannot express the sheer beauty of this whole video. His voice, the piano, production. The whole thing is stellar. Lauv you are truly magical. He could rival Bruno Mars and ed Sheeran with his writing and voice. As a singing teacher every part of his voice is used exactly where it should be. Just wow.
