I think its about the dichotomy of the pristine image of humanity that we all present to the world amid the trappings of wealth and sophistication versus the very natural instincts to eat, mate and possess comforts above all else. We fight these instincts, like the vampire of myth fights their hunger for blood, but the beast is who we are. We are all just monkeys after all, even if we wear fancy clothes. So if you go on an exodus, you are only away from your desires for as long as you put in the effort and if you ever let go and free the beast within you are already caught before you begin. The red-clad woman and her friends represent the desires of humans for basic things, like the natural hunger of an animal, but in the extreme amount and they are each merely the embodiment of this ultra-wild instinct, despite dressing differently, just as we all truly animalistic in our basic nature, are despite our efforts to make ourselves appear/force ourselves to act differently. It's basically to say we are all beasts, we fight against it and we often lose. The man floating in the pool in his home is clearly minding his own business and awash in the trappings (pun intended) but as he is not submerged, he is holding back or subduing his natural instincts. His sensibilities are vulnerable to the attack of these more attuned and free-spirited individuals who synergyze both the good and bad, wild and tame of humanity. Eventually he gives in, realizes he cannot escape and is entirely dyed and consumed by his wild desires, both literally and figuratively.
